Hope the driver made it out ok. I always figured those things were invincible due to the sizes of them.

Wow, hope he/she made it out ok. I wonder if the substance he was hauling was expandable/flamable because those flames look like they would have generated a lot of heat...potential BOOM.

:werd: It seems pretty dangerous to be keeping the road open and letting everyone drive by that close if that could blow

He was likely only hauling frac sand or cement. Nothing flammable there, although his trailer is all aluminum and the heat likely destroyed it. I was afraid it may have been one of my work trucks or the sub contractor we use, luckily it wasn't.

Well there was a guy lying on the side of the road who a few people were tending to, thinking maybe he was the driver. Couldn't see him properly, so not sure how he was doing. It must have been pretty recent cause couple of Leduc ambulances were rushing towards it.

Wow, he must have bailed out while the truck was still moving, judging by the burnt trail behind the truck, the thing was still moving while burning significantly.

What the hell is with that section of road.. In the last yr and a half I've heard of atleast 3 big rigs going up in flames and fucking that section of highway. And it's not as if I wait for that type of news story to pop up..

That's what I was assuming as well, cause looking at the front of the truck, it doesn't seem possible for anyone to be alive after it had stopped or had been under that kinda fire. The strange thing is though that there were no signs of any collision what so ever, it was like the truck just busted into flames out of nowhere.

Dear Mr. Insurance Adjuster,

We will be needing to file a small claim for some fire damage.

Busted fuel line?

I've something like that happen at race city. Injector cracks open, spray fuel on the turbo and it starts burning. Got to it with fire extinguishers, so the car was ok.

Rumor has it that's a new landmark to welcome visitors to the city, I think it suits Edmonton quite well.

Diesel doesn't burn that easily, so I would be surprised if it was a fuel leak.

However is is strange that the truck appears to have burnt the grass on the path to its current location.

Trimac and Cascade are primarily cementious product haulers. The load will be harmless.

That burnt path may just be the grass fire spreading. It doesn't take long.

Perhaps a 2x4 or piece of steel rod was kicked up and punctured the saddle tank. Wouldn't be the first time, it happened on deerfoot too but the fuel didn't ignite.

The last pic needs the caption below from the carfax commercials saying...

"This truck is HOT!!!"

it was obviously leaking fuel hence the trail behind it is burnt. It just stopped burning before he got there.

my uncle was bringin a 5 ton back from vancouver, and a piece of barbed wire had gotten caught in the rim and created so much heat that it started on fire, luckily he got to it quick enough with the fire extinguisher before it blew the tire, or anything more, but there was no warning to it, no sounds or anything until someone pulled him over saying there was smoke coming from his passenger wheel well, so maybe something like that happened, truck carrying a bit of steel wire lost its load or something infront of the truck and cause a friction fire?

That would be one hell of a brake stand. Equal mixture of tire smoke and Diesel smoke

It's definitely not something you get to see everyday. Seems like straight out of a hollywood action movie.

Diesel daosn't burn easily but the turbo on that truck generates enough heat to easily burn diesel if it was sprayed onto it. There are some pictures on facebook of a BJ services frac string that burned to the ground on a location after one injector on one truck sprayed fuel on a hot turbo. Burned about 12 million dollars worth of equiptment to the ground.
It was either something like that or it very well could have started as a brake fire that spread to the fuel tanks, I am still going with fuel fire to begin with though.
