If you buy a car that requires an inspection to be insured but you can't drive it without insurance how do you go about getting an inspection?

Do they insure you for the day to be able to do this?

that can't be the only way to get that done thats ridiculous. I thought you were able to insure for the day??? That would make getting an inspection well into the hundreds

I believe you can get temporary insurance from the registry

Well so far I have 2 answers which will make it possible for me to do this. So I'm all good. Just got my quote all I need is to switch the registration and pay my fines I owe which hopefully won't be too much.

since you have to go to the registry to transfer your registration you might as well see if they will give you temporary insurance for a day.

Called back and they said with an old inspection they will submit that and give me 30 days from that point to re-submit a new one. But I will also check at the registry on thursday to see if I can just do the one day thing and get it over with.

Do they charge taxes on a car when you buy it? If so does it go by what I paid for it or the bluebook value???

no taxes on used cars unless bought from a dealer

nice. Well then I'm all set. I'll hopefully be driving this thing by this weekend. Looks like I'll be skipping a day at Sait to get all of it done though.

WTF. The registry CANNOT give you insurance. That is stupid. Most insurance companies give you 2 weeks to get it inspected. Call them to check. Usually they will give you pink slips right then, next you go to a registry with pink slips and the bill of sale and get your plate
