Do any of you beyonders have a home security camera setup?

I am thinking of doing one at my parents house. Probably just one camera front and one in the rear. Just wondering if anyone has a setup they would like to share or any tips or anything.

Right now I am just looking into the cameras. I see futureshop sells them. Are they fairly decent?

What do you guys use to record with? I would ideally like to connect it to a computer rather than a tv as we have a spare computer that would be perfect.

Any tips on making them not stand out so much?

The reason why I am looking into this is because I noticed a few douchebag neighbours that have moved in around their house and subsequently certain things seem to get vandalized etc. I just want proof its them.

Thanks!

Just came across this software (http://www.orb.com/) this morning. It's free media sharing software (like slingbox; ie: access your remote media from a remote computer/device). I haven't used it yet, but they do mention something about webcams, recording and ability to automatically detect movement. It looked interesting.

Don't know if it's what you're looking for, but thought I'd share.

Get 2x D-Link Wireless Camras, and a D-Link DNS 323 NAS, set the cameras up to record on motion to the NAS.

That should work out very well.

I just use a webcam and a program called webcam xp5. It sets up the cam so I can just host it on my server and watch it whenever.....Right now I'm using it to spy on my house when the realtor is showing it

Depending on Budget you have a choice of cams

Standard Cam:

Pan/Tilt/Zoom:

Here is the NAS:

Plus you want to add 2 harddrives (2x 80gb, in a mirror config)

The purpose of the NAS is so that you dont need to have your computer on to get the recordings. the Nas is low power and runs on the network so you can access the data from any computer.

The d-link ones, when including the price of an enclosure are kinda expensive. If I were to invest in this I would need it outdoor year round so I think i am going to try to find another solution.

I really liked the Dlink software and when combined with the pan/tilt camera seems like it could be pretty sweet.
