So yesterday I noticed some hesitation at WOT in 3rd gear. Stopped the car to take a look under the hood and noticed oil had been blown out through the recirc valve gasket. Also, a friend behind me said that I was pushing a significant amount of black smoke between shifts (I think it was between shifts, the timing seemed to match up)

I haven't pulled the TMIC yet to see how much oil in there but I am hoping some of you folks might have an idea of what is going on.

Thanks!

Sounds like a possible turbo seal. Does AVO warrentee their turbo's?

Do a compression test, or get one done. If your compression is fine you can probably safely eliminate blowby, then it would most likely be a turbo seal.

Thanks guys, that's exactly what the plan is...I just pray it's the turbo.

It's a Deadbolt turbo, but used so there is no rebuild warranty left on it. Any idea what a rebuild would cost?

I say around $130-150.

a rebuild kit would be about $150 then spend the $80 and have alamo balance it after it is worth in IMO.

alamo quoted me $500-550 for a rebuild on a to4e parts and labor as long as no housings and impeller are needed
