The motor in my friend's 2000 Corolla S is on it's last legs. I don't know that much about these cars.

Is it easy to source motor swaps for these cars? Any good suggestions on where to pick one up? Are there motors that can be swapped in easily that are an upgrade over stock?

TIA

How do you manage to blow an 8 year old Toyota engine?

Can't see why the motor is pooched but if I remember right that year and model has a TRD supercharger kit available that really perks it up.

I've replaced a 1ZZ-FE already, it takes a lot of neglect to kill them lol

I'd just do a 2ZZ with a TRD supercharger. Easy as pie to swap in.

Seems that even Toyota has it's lemons. This is an original owner car bought locally. It's been maintained on schedule and has average mileage and hasn't been bagged on. The motor in my Pontiac Sunfire lasted longer than this and it was driven hard.

Sounds like 2ZZ is the best option. Anyone have a good source for that motor?

My sis drove an '88 corolla every day for a week with nil coolant and like 1L of oil (nothing showed up on the dipstick).

Damn thing ran unitl the tranny died a year later (she broke that though).

btw, whats your definition of 'pooched'.... is it blowing blue smoke all the time?

Did you run 5-10w20 oil in it - or heavier 5-10w30 oil?
