I already have my snow tires on. Don't feel like changing back. Wonder what I'd run with snows on.

If the width is similar to your summers and you are running something with more sidewall and a bit lighter it might go faster!

I'm going for my first (and maybe last) time ever. I'm sure I'm going to suck really, really bad... new to stick, new car, and never raced it before.

I didn't realize it would be open this week, so I also have a full tank of gas to boot! Haha, not like that will make any real difference to my time.

Summers are 225/40R18
Winters 205/55R16, much lighter setup

First time out to Secret Street this year.

12.25 on the shakedown.

Set tire pressures.

12.06 on the 2nd pass, no 1-2 WOT - made a small pressure adjustment.

11.79 on the 3rd pass, all WOTS

Put in 20L of fuel too, so I was heavier than I would normally be. Guess the new motor works. I think 11.79 is close to the quickest I've run at Race City ever - all turbo.

Track prep was very good. 1.75 60 foots.

I'm a little rusty, but shook that off on the first pass - the ET for which doesn't tell the story of how crappy the pass actually was...

Anyhow, I left very early because I don't see the point in beating on the car. I proved what I wanted to prove, and that is that the new engine works, my work on the car is successful and the car pulls very hard still.

I'm gonna call that done I think, unless I decide to race at the Fastest Street Car Challenge, but that is doubtful.

Whomever raced me on my 11.79 pass (red car looked like a Sport Compact) and ran a 12.0xx - if you are this person or know this person, great time, please submit your time to the Alberta Top 10.

that was a red MKIII supra and I believe he is on the forum as well.

Z_fan new motor?

Great night to watch if only it had been a bit warmer.

If you know him, talk to him and see if he wants on the list. Just need the car specs as I have his timeslip (unless he has run quicker) ...

And yeah, Mr ET I shot a rod out the bottom of my SRT-4 motor going up a hill on the highway. A couple months back. Anyhow, broken rod bolt I believe is what started it all and then it just went from there. Shit out both sides of the motor and a HUGE hole...like 9 inches wide and 10 inches tall. Hahahha, it was a mess.

I put in a replacement engine. I will be updating my SRT-4 thread some day soon so you can see pics there eventually.

My slicks wern't holding anything. I think I'm gonna run em till they shred.

Z_fan, what pressures do you run?

Z_Fan
09-27-2008, 09:21 AM
11 psi hot

So I set them at 12psi on my first pass (cold) burnout, do the 1/4 and then set them to 11 immediately. Therefore my first run is always the slowest. Sometimes I have to take another pound out after the second pass.

I thought track prep was fantastic. I cut a 1.758 60 ft in a FWD and the nice thing was it was prepped (I think) to 300 feet because I was holding grip all through 2nd too. Which is unusual.

I was actually happy with the track prep for a change.

That was my friends MK3 supra, me and him built this past winter, he was trying soo hard to get an 11.xx

not sure if he is on here, but I'll get a scan of his slip

also Brandon's omni (the one all intercooler between headlights and tires that stick way out past the fenders made a 12.76@103 last night we were happy to see after 2 weeks of not being able to go better then a 13.1x

Z_Fan
09-27-2008, 11:28 AM
Well I have your friends slip, because I raced him during my 11.793 pass.

12.038 @ 114.67 mph was his time, I figured maybe he'd already run an 11.9x time.

As for the OMNI, if he's on here a scan of his slip would be good. Not sure where that time would fall on the list though. I think first on honorable mention or maybe second or third after the next update.

Best I could manage was an 11.3 at 129pmh. Was running really strong last night, but was pretty slippery!

^^

You really should go to Edmonton next weekend - the last chance - to try for a 10 second slip. I think you can do it up there.

A lot of nice cars out last night... As well as a lot of quick times... some found the track sticky but I honestly could not hook up in any gear especially 1-2... And I couldn’t even run quicker than a 14.1 @110mph and last week I pulled a 13.5 @ 109mph with no effort at all on my 1st pass. I did run straight methanol though which I noticed a huge difference than last week when I sprayed a 50/50 mix.

Yeah, there isn't much advantage without slicks. AWD helps a lot but not when my tires are all cold from sitting for an hour waiting in line.

And I snapped my power steering belt clean off when launching on my last pass. It put a dent in my hood and chipped the paint. :banghead:

Yea I can imagine they cool right off in that wait... I think this Friday I’m going to do 1 or 2 passes right at the start of the night than sit and watch till about 9:30-10:00 than get back in line... I had 4 runs between 9:30-11 vs the 2 runs I had from 7:00-9
I’m guessing you were the one in the skyline hopping down the track the other night ahah that’s a ridiculously fast car you have there, do you know how much power your running?

What do you mean by hopping? like bouncy? Haven't had a chance to dyno the car yet. Should be in between 5-600hp.

lol this is true... I am guessing it was the AWD equivalent to wheel hop off the line? Than just a bad ass GTR ripping down the track lol

Probably more the sound than anything, bouncing off the rev limiter, and feathering the throttle. May have looked like the car was diving up and down.
