Hello All,
I've had a 02 SLK32 for the last few years and I have been scrounging around, trying to find some pulley kits for it. I know Evosport makes a good set, as does Renntech, but is there anyone else? I have heard of a place out of Houston, but I can't remember their damned name....I would like a couple more lbs of boost than what is out there if possible.
Thanks!

Whats wrong with the Renntech one?

Just get one custom made if the existing ones don't put out enough boost.

Unjustified, over-priced name, perhaps?

Rage2 had RENNtech gear on his 32, maybe he can chime in on whether it was worth it or if other alternatives are available/better.

The Renntechs looked good, but Evosport has a new model with a dampened crank pulley rather than a solid one (I guess they must of had problems with the old style) and I was just wondering if there are more options out there than these 2. How much better does it move? Is it noticeable? Its great to be faster than stock, but you can always be faster......

I had the Renntech one on my SLK32 with no problems. I then custom made one locally (for retarded money dont ask me why) that gave me another 2psi of boost and another 15whp.

Here's some pics, Renntech vs my 192mm custom pulley (required a smaller water pump pulley for clearance too). Custom CNC'd.

Oh ya, crank pulley sizes... 156mm stock, 180mm renntech, mine was 192mm. The 192mm crank pulley needed a 98mm water pump pulley for clearance.

With the 192mm pulley, everything runs a lot faster, and with the 98mm pulley for the waterpump, it was probably spinning even faster.

Did you have to tweak much electronically with the WAYYYYY larger crank pulley, or did the Renntech modded software work out? I don't think I would have too much problems to get a pulley CNC'd (god bless the oilfield) for cheap....It looks like you just got the pulley made and mated it to an existing "center", is that right? Did you need to balance it as well? Was it worth all the messing about, or no? Thanks for all the info guys, I really appreciate it!!

The Renntech software worked perfect with it. Solid 11.8 AFR's through the powerband. One of the Renntech engineers used to be on here in a private forum when I was developing this, and he gave me some suggestions before I had the pulleys built.

Do you know anyone who has used the Evosport pulley kits? Which would be the better road to go? Renntech is a hell of a name but Evosport isn't too shabby either.......

Evosport pulleys were known to blow up and they were being pricks about the problem (blaming the customer). I think their new kits have the harmonic damper now, but honestly, I've been out of the '32 game before they introduced it.

Alright, I'm now sold to Renntech. Thanks for the info!

How was driveability and reliability of the Renntech kit? The reason I am asking is that I am moving to Mexico in the next couple weeks. I want to drive from Edmonton all the way down to Veracruz (close to Mexico City) but I would like this kit installed first. Was it pretty rock solid for you Rage?

Same as stock but with more power everywhere. You might have problems finding good gas in Mexico tho...

Its actually pretty good down there same as back in Canada and maybe a bit better....I am in Venezuela now and these bastards have practally race fuel at the pumps....95 octane! And for 6 cents a liter!!

I don't know if the 95 octane in Venezuela is the same 95 octane here.
All I saw on the roads in Venezuela were big pos American boats from the 70s and 80s, and those cars definitely don't need 95 octane.

hey rage,
whats faster do you think? a slk32 / c32 with renntech pulley/ecu or a chipped 335?

No clue. I'd guess it's fairly close.
