The National Do Not Call list website and toll free numbers went live this morning for Canadians to register their phone numbers.

Website:
https://www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca

Toll Free:
1-866-580-3625

Toll Free (hearing impaired):
1-888-362-5889

I just tried to register my numbers, but the website is too busy and is failing when submitting the form. I'm tempted to call the hearing impaired phone line as that one shouldn't be too busy.

Yah, but 90% of the telemarketers who call you, are EXCLUDED from honouring from the list.

Charties -- excluded,
pollsters -- excluded,
newspapers -- excluded,
anyone you've done business with the the last 18 months -- excluded.

Rarely do i actually get cold called by someone who is not in one of these categories.

What I do is bookmark Rick Roll or Bel Air theme song, and whenever I get a telemarketer, I simply bring up the bookmark (Youtube) and blast it through the phone.

Way more fun then simply blocking them.

I was reading about this at work. Sucks for marketers. There is a pretty hefty fine if they disobey :P

It's finally here, I registered today but went back to enter my parents information but apparently the amount of traffic caused the server to crash.

They are fixing it as we speak.... I think everyone should be on this list f#$# telemarketers...

Exceptions to the list include calls from charities, political parties, polling companies, newspapers selling subscriptions, and organizations with which the consumer has an existing business relationship.

ie, the list is FUCKING useless.

I don't get telemarketers, I always get banks, Rogers, and charities and the PC party and this list does nothing for me.

Aw man, I didn't think polling companies were excluded. That makes this useless to me as well.

This is the government we are talking about. They have the best of everything even when they don't need it. Excluding military, haha.
