what would be the biggest engine i could fit in an 83 cutlass? with out change the mounts? i was told something like a 302 or soemthing but i imagine i could get something bigger.

I think you're stuck with a small block.

You could probably get a 305 or a 350 in there with little problems, i think the 350 was an option at one point although i could be wrong. I would get the 350 because of it's huge aftermarket support and more displacement to work with.

Im sure with enough effort you could put any engine into your car
anyone else seen the fiero with the 350 ?

You could get a version of the cutlass with big block power, but you would have to swamp motor mounts to do it. I agree with 5.9R/T, if you are looking at an engine swap your best bet is to go with a 350.

how much would that cost me to get the 350 and have a pro installation?and i'm talking with performance carbs etc everything performance (please list in detail)

Here's my advice. Pick up a summit parts catalog, or visit their website, or call a local engine builder and find out what they offer. Each will have different 'trim' levels that you can choose from to get the hp that you want. Or get a junkyard motor and get someone to rebuild it with the parts you want on it. Installation costs will vary, you live in the states so it won't be the same as up here. I do think the 350 will just drop right in, tho you may need a different tranny to hook up to it. Again I reccomend that you find an oldsmobile forum and talk to guys there, this is a general car forum and specific knowledge on your car doesn't exist here.

theres a fiero gt here in red deer with a 350 in it and 2 nitours bottles that dman things runs low 11's
