Why must they tempt me? Maybe instead of a Z06 in a couple years, I'll skip up to one of these. Should be even cheaper then....

Would be an excellent choice.. they are phenomenal cars. If you do get one, get a catless exhaust system.. the sound is unbeatable.. both the Tubi and Capristos are great.

Oh yeah. Not gonna happen for a few years at least.

And yes, Capristo exhaust. :D Just gotta find one with the valvetrain all fixed.

If you need any help as you get closer, I know several current/former owners and can get you some pointers.. they are beautiful cars and I would love a ride if you do end up with one.

There is a beautiful one that was owned by a friend of mine at Kulu Motorcar right now.. red/tan spider with capristo.

Nice cars. Love the 355. Maintenance is expensive. :dunno:

They look cool and all, but are rather dated now. I know its a ferarri but it is an old ferarri with probably a pretty big mainenance bill. There is more to a purchase decision then the sticker price, such as insurance and all that.

Personally a Z06 is prolly faster, cheaper and more modern looking

Awesome cars but I heard they are on a pretty strict/expensive mantenenance schedule. I'd take one over a Z06 any day though if I could afford it.

I recently did some research on the 355 and was led to fchat and found EVERYONE say that the 355 was an expensive ferrari to maintain.

I know it's not that affordable, but you could probably find a 360 for just about 100k.

I've been pricing out bringing one up from the states, I would have to rig it up to make the fogs works as daytime running lights, sort of like the mr2. They arent the cheapest to maintain but the money saved on not modding it would go towards maintenance, rims and maybe coilovers would be a must though :D . I found there to be a lot more convertibles out there than coupes.

Since when do you buy a car as an investment?

LOL:rofl:

355 GTS is one of my personal favs. Have been looking around for a red GTS...but they are hard to come by. A black 360 Modena would be better...but maybe in a couple years when they drop under $100M.

well no, just unless you plan on keeping it for the rest of your life the corvette is a better car to get...the ferrari would be very hard to sell down the road as it gets even older then it is now

Eff all that crap, buy the Ferrari. They're gorgeous cars, and they're pretty quick too.

Besides, everyone and their damn mother has a 'Vette.

Seriously? If I was thinking long term I would buy a Ferrari in a hear beat. They certainly don't depreciate like a corvette as well.

Actually, no. Ferraris are very stable price wise, and much easier to sell than commodity vehicles. There will always be a demand for 355s.

+1. The sound of the 355's blaring down a straight away is amazing. The 360/430 just doesn't have that scream.

Except for being a status symbol and the interior, at C6Z beats that car in every regard.

......I like the red one.

what is the actual yearly cost to maintain one of these cars? and you have to think that for the average driver even with a good record, insurance would eat you alive.

I looked at the 355 before buying my esprit, expect to pay $1.50+ per km for basic maintenance. Much worse if something goes wrong, ie exhaust manifolds or valve guides.

Not that the esprit isn't expensive to maintain but it's much easier to diy and replacement parts are readily available thanks to lotus using other manufacturers parts.

They do sound wicked, I was at the track this year a number of times dicing with the ferraris and the 355's really wail. But they are slow, a c6 Z06 would destroy it.

If you can afford to buy the 355 make sure you budget for the cost of ownership. Also insurance isn't that bad, providing your record is clean and you are more then 25 years old. Aviva seems to have decent insurance rates for exotics.

After driving a 997 GT3 at the track I'm thinking my esprit is going to have to go up for sale, the GT3 is nothing short of phenomenal.

As for the Flames tonight....wtf?

man, i'd never drive that Ferrari. Its so so expensive to maintain. Not even worth driving it, status symbol, speed, or looks wise; its just not worth the $1.50 a mile m10-power quoted.

They are hard to justify, but the key with cars like this is that you don't have to drive them often to get a ton of enjoyment... you need to make ever km count. 1000 k a year is not uncommon for Ferrari owners to maximize enjoyment for minimal outlay.

If you wanna get ready for the cost of ownership just go buy a DSM and own it for a couple years. It'll get ya ready for it.

I've never quite understood how that could be done, but you do see it all the time, exotic cars with next to no km on them, if I had an exotic even if I had a DD I'd still be driving it ALOT, besides work and the winter, it would be driven whenever I need a car, but maybe peoples mindset do change when they have a car like that.

Don't you have that CGT? if so how many km do you put on each year? and how do you not drive it all the time?
