On top of the expected death toll from car accidents expect more deaths from more frequent planes crashes and drunk flyers. :banghead:

If it's propelled by it's own means, and leaves the ground. It's now considered an aeroplane. You'll still need a pilots license (THANK GOD)

edit: Except in Alaska, where a drivers license is valid :nut:

Flying vehicles just are not practical. Can you imagine all the crashes that would result in thousands of little planecars flying around Calgary?

It's one of those concepts which seemed like a good idea back in the day. Now, it's just a waste of R&D money.

ld be alright if they all had very accurate GPS's and were automated... they'd all know where each other are and be able to avoid one another.

Like what the first person posted on that site said: its not a flying car but a drivable plane. So it isn't going to be on sale at your local car dealerships and you'd have to have a pilots license to drive it.

who ever said pilots were a good thing :D

i've known that airtravel in Alaska is essential for alot of people's daily lives, like some kids take a bus to the airfield, take a plane to school then back on the plane then bussed home. :nut:
but i didnt know about the driver's license thing. it's amazing that the FAA lets them get away with that kinda shit just because they're 'in the bush' or whatever.

gps nowadays isn't as accurate as it could be
some are like +-8m off
and now it's not a matter of where you are on the surface of the earth, it's also a matter of what altitude you're at relative to other cars/planes/flying vacuum's

.. like TCAS? cept i doubt it'll do any good if you got these things flying around like the highway on back to the future 2, you wouldn't have time to make heading/altitude adjustments. don't forget to factor in the older asian female driver..flyer, oh man would that be a shit show.

Who needs road legal when you can land anywhere?
Personal Aircraft... capable of VTOL. not exactly "new" technology but it gets the job done.
