Hello all,

I recently purchase a 1994 Silverado that has a Command Start that doesn't work. The lock/unlock works with button #2, but the remote start doesn't work. When I press button #1 the lights go on in the dash but the starter doesn't go.

I am unable to determine the model number from it.
It is a black box with rounded corners and has Command Start 1997 on the circuit board as well as KIL 500A3 stamped on it. The remote has CS 555 on the back of it.

Would anyone know what model I have and where I could get a manual for it or the steps to reprogram it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is more than likely a 290i. Check both fuses to the unit. Then check (with a test light) for power to the orange wire at the module when you have the key in the start position. If there is power at the orange wire in start position, the relay inside the Command Start is no good.
The module would have to be replaced.
