If you really want one, just wait for the JDM ones to be legal. Only a few months left.

Wiki says they were only available in Japan, Europe, Australia, New Zealand.

You can pick up an imported one for cheap. Depending on date of production of the one you bring over it's probably already legal.

They may know .. but why do they answer you?

Plus .. .. I doubt they know something 15 yr ago .. they probably just concern within 4-5 yr old model with warranty.

Make it easy, answer is no, and GOOGLE is your
friend!

GT4 was good car .. but . dont buy a grey market JDM if you dont have to .. it is ok if you buy it as a "collection" but dont drive it as daily car .. :nut:

:D I am not going to start this kind of topic again

what countries in Europe are Left hand drive? I think Sweden might be. Anything different about importing from Europe than from Japan?

They do have LHD versions out there, even the WRC homogolation models.

That would be an awesome car to own, especially with our seasons

Damnit, my secret is out :D I wanted one, but they didn't come in white until 1995, and the importers are charging lots for them  If you want to spend big bucks, get a LHD from Europe. Edit: not UK, geoprahical error duhhhh

Or you could go my route and just buy a 95gts and swap a 3s in it and do a gt4 face lift on it. Still though gorgeous cars I don't know if I want a jdm one though

exactlyyyyyy.

besides doing a swap with the 3sgte engine, you still need a stronger tranny to support it. Plus AWD is half the goal. If its reasonable, i'd want to put the "swap money" into importing.

I checked out Ebay motors for countries in Europe besides the UK and they all seemed to be right hand drives. :dunno:

For a while, I was thinking of picking up one of these or a LHD Ford Escort Cosworth for a winter car. If I got one of these, I'd deck it out in full Sega Rally colors lol.

But ya, it's all about DSG for me now, no more MT cars lol.

Does anyone know of companies that import cars from europe?

I sold mine just for this reason.
The GT4 version started production in Feb so I believe thats the earliest you can get that. The SS-I or SS-II will be legal a little earlier though.
Can't wait to get one.

You just need any E153 out of an MR2.

actually the GTS tranny can hold up to 350hp stock, because it's the same tranny used in the SS-III trim, I'm still on the fence about selling mine and grabbing a GT4.

Feb? I thought Nov 3/4 was the first day they started rolling out. Albeit you may not necessarily find a car with a production date of Nov 4...

haha yes these cars grew on me pretty fast. the interior kicks ass too. slightly mimics the supra. I meant the car itself was orgasmic, ignoring the fact it was right hand drive.

What did the post Aug/95 facelift involve? I did not know there was a facelift for the GT-4..

from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Celica_GT-Four#ST205_.281994-1999.29)

For 1996 model year, the ST205 received minor change which consists of new 6-spoke alloys, projector headlights, contoured side spoilers, and redesigned rear spoiler. The high WRC rear spoiler was not available in 1996, but returned as an option for the second minor change in December 1997.
