He looked at a mazda speed today, I guess he likes it so he asked me if it's a good car but I don't really know anything about it.

Is it the new protege??? 160hp/170tq?? Tell me if i'm wrong, how much does it weigh? 0-60, 1/4 mile????

Is it a good car? Is there something better for the money? He doesn't want a honda and he has a cavalier, he's a little older and wiser now :D

Ohh, a little more info, he's planning on buying the car here, but he's moving to san diego in a month, he'll be back here every summer I believe, so winter driving isn't important. I think he's insuring it here and will still have an address here, dunno if it's a good idea or not to buy it here.

well as im sure u know, the car handles awesome and is pretty quick...and looks good.

only bad things about the car is the torque steer and the kinda harsh ride.

So it's a FWD?? What else should he look at in the price range?

Not a bad looking car but if your really thinking of spending that kind of money why not get something used (2-3 years) and let the original owner take the hit on the immediate depriciation?

car's not for me...

Friend wants new car I think, and he's not gonna pay for the car outright, he was saying he was lookin for a used car but interest rate's were so high, which really doesn't make a whole lot of sense from me becaue I've never bought used from a dealer.

RSRT-4

The Mazda Speed is $28,6 something and is a nice car Go See Paul Dow @ Kramer Mazda and tell Him Rick Hazen Recommended you (y) and buy the way the Mazda speed is not in the same class as an SRT-4

The SRT-4 is very fast, as much as i hate to say it. Probably would be best to get the SRT-4 in Cali cuz we don't have em here yet as far as I know. He may also want to consider a Spec-V with the Stillen supercharger kit or sumthin but the 03 model, the 04 is just ugly. An SIR/RSX with mods might be good too, but uglyness galore(SIR is ugly, RSX is ok), Honda power (who needs that?) and also the price tag. The impreza will always be frowned on in the day of the STI and WRX. But without mods i like the Mazda over all cuz it comes in kewl colours, has a killer stereo, and is track ready out of the box, and looks way better than the pee on Neon. In my opinion.

no such thing.

There are some turbo kits that will land you approx 250whp but only offered from small companies.
