Looking to get an economy winter car and want it to be cheap on insurance and gas. Thinking of the big 3.. Honda, Toyota, Nissan.

Im assuming 4 door with less options is usually best. Also thinking that Toyota would be cheapest.

Looking for 95 and newer. In the 5K range. Any suggestions?

you can have it for 5g, insurance would be cheap since you only need liability and gas came down a bit so premium isnt too expensive... oh and i took out the 550cc injectors so that makes it a bit more fuel efficient :D

Any Camry or Accord 4 cylinder and you'll be fine.

Are premiums higher for civics given that they are commonly stolen??

I'd say like a 96 Tercel or something...

That is what I thought. Espically civics becuase highschoolers go out and try and make them race cars and the crash rate is high as a result

if your just buying a cheap winter car, why don't you just get liability insurance?

I may but i want to keep options open. And you never know what could happen in the winter.

In that general price range you will probably be just going with PLPD anyway in which case the vehicle itself makes no difference on the premium. PLPD is base strictly on the driver. Keep in mind that if it's 15 years old or older you will probably need a safety inspection. Some companies go with 12 years but most are 15.

its up to the insurance company. Some go to 12 years. Classic car insurance doesn't need one at all.

Older protege, that's what I've got for a beater. Super reliable, good on gas and even though she's slow, she handles like a dream, even on shitty all season rubber
