Looking to bring over a 2005 745iL from the States... but before I do, I have a question for all the 745iL owners out there... What is the fuel consumption on this car? I currently own a 2001 740i and the consumption is amazing! $120 to fill and I get 750km to the tank!
Thanks for any feed back!
haha one question:
how are you dealing with one of the most unreliable vehicles of modern time and b) according to fueleconomy.gov, the 05 745i gets 16mpg in the city (14.7l/100km) and 24mpg on the highway (9.8l/100km)

That's amazing? I've gotten twice that mileage on pretty much all of my cars.

Depends on the gas prices I guess. But $120 is pretty well 3 fills @ 400-500km/fill.

ahh.. I see what you mean. :D
I was like.. I can barely squeeze 700km/tank on my civic.. and you can get 1500?!

Fuel economy won't be great, I can tell you that right now. Your 740i is shorter and lighter than the car you're planning to succeed it with. (745Li is the long-wheelbase version.)
Then again, you're buying a 7-series; it's not going to sip fuel like a Honda Fit, and you know that.
I will tell you this: You will love the 05 745Li. I was originally looking at a dark grey 745i before opting for the smaller 5-series I own now. But comparing the two in terms of comfort and luxury, the 745i was just head and shoulders above anything else I'd looked at. And being a nerd professionally, it had PLENTY of toys to keep me happy for hours. Drove very nicely too, but it certainly made use of all 330 horses.

Silly question.....if you are buying a newish 7 series BMW, does the fuel consumption even matter?
