I have 2 p.o.s 12' subs and a p.o.s amp, as well as a sony explode (pos) amp with a pioneer imp 10' sub.

so today i decided it was time to take out the big ass box and the shit subs and put in the newer stuff. I disconnected all the wires from the amp, making sure to keep track by labels of whichare positve/neg, as well as R/L channels. I then began to hook up the newer stuff, starting with the 12v+ wire. once i got that in, i went to to the ground. the ground wire touched the 12v wire and made a spark. after wiring up the rest and turning on the acc, the subs didnt work, and the amp wouldnt turn on. i checked the fuses and they are fine. i tryed to hook up the old subs and they didnt work either, thought they were working like 10 minutes ago.

HELP!

its the fuse under the hood, replace it.

Not necessarily, there's also fuses on the amplifier itself. That was pretty dumb though, unhook the battery when working on your stereo.

If he touched the power wire to the ground wire, it would be the inline fuse on the power conection.

OP says he checked the fuses. Though I bet he didn't check the one on the power lead.

check your fusible links in you fuse box under your hood. may have popped one.

I've had it sometimes also where burned fuses dont even look burned, so if you dont see any noticeable blown, replace them anyways and try. Also check the ones in/on the amp if there are any...

Yup, the fuse you blew isn't in the fuse box with the others. It should be within 12" of the battery on the power wire to your amp. If it doesn't run all the way to the battery they could have tapped it off at the fuse box. If you don't see it at the battery, follow it back from your amp.

do you have power on your cd player? if not then its your sterio fuse...

do you have power on your main power to the amp? if so cheak your ground aswell... if both those seem fine then it would have to be your cd player fuse.. there are some cd players with fuses in the back on them.. cheak that also

Pop your hood, you should see the (what color is the 12+ wire) wire coming from the positive terminal. Disconnect the battery, and then check the fuse. If not, on your amp itself, there should be a smaller blade type fuse that you should check.

Are you sure the ground wire didnt spark when you touched the negative input on the amp? This is why you use a charge light before plugging wires into a amplifier, you need to charge the capacitors inside the amp otherwise you risk over loading the power supply. If this is what happened the amp is done.
But maybe you did just pop a fuse somewhere too....

if your wires are connected properly then either 1. fuse or 2. you blew your amp(assuming your head unit still works)
