I have my actual workout routine pretty down pat. I'm still trying to find a consistent pre and post workout routine.

Right now I don't do anything before I workout, I just go out to the gym around 10pm, get back at around 11:30, have a shower, protein shake and then pass out in bed.

I've been reading out consuming shitty carbs (high glycol index) after the workout so you don't go hypo glycemic, and quality carbs (low glycol index) before so you have energy throughout your workout.

What kind of routines do you guys have?

I have a good filling dinner at around 6pm. Let my food digest for a while then i go to the gym around 7:30. Drinking a creatine mix on the way to the gym. Work out for and hour to an hour and a half.
Get home drink another creatine mix, followed by a protein shake. (drink these within 45 min of ur work out)
Then i have a shower and make something to eat as a relax for an hour or 2 before bed.

Well seeing as I am bored sensless at work....

AM Workout
ECA + Water +20-30min then cardio
or
ECA + Water +20-30min + Banana then weights

Breakfast when I get home, typically higher carb (raw oats and yogurt +eggs)

PM Workout
ECA - Water +20-30min + banana or apple then weights (have eaten approx 1-2hrs before)

Typical PM meal, high prot/fat low carb. (steak & salad), sometimes a meal replacement shake, but I rarely work out in the PM, I find I cannot sleep well.

Pre workout: I usually eat a moderate meal 1 - 1.5 h before I go workout. I take NO as well and will take that 20 min before the workout.

Post workout: Immediately following my workout I will take my pre-made protein shake containing whey protein & sugars and finish that over 20 min. Within an hour I will eat a large meal.

Pre: Breakfast at around 9. Usually a whole wheat bagel with some natural PB and banana on one side, some sort of (lean) breakfast meat on the other, glass of milk.

Hit the gym around 11 go until 12:30

Post: Protein shake immediately after, eat lunch (usually chicken breast, veggies or tuna) around 2. Snack around 4, dinner around 6. I'll snack a bit around 8 or 9 since I get a little hungry and on a workout day I'll throw back a casein shake right before bed.

If its just a cardio sesh (usually once a week, twice if I'm not too busy), I just take some glutamine right before then hit the bike hard for ~30 mins.

Morning: Protein shake on my way to work
Pre: Pound NO Shogun for motivation 20 minutes prior to resistance training, I generally take this halfway through my cardio. Generally do resistance training for about an hour.
Post: Protein immediately after following with a doobie snack.

I work out after work, usually around 6. At 5 when I'm done work I have a sandwich or some pasta, then workout (30 min cardio, 1 hr weights). Always drink alot of water before/during. After workout I usually smoke a bowl, go home, and have dinner.
Thats it, no shakes or anything. Do you guys find all the shake and supplements actually help? Maybe I should start...

Yes. Kick starts recovery much sooner.

Also I wouldn't smoke pot right after working out lol.

what effects do pot have on workouts? I normally don't smoke immediately after, I can wait a few minutes

I've read (take it for what it's worth) that pot can lower testosterone.

I actually posted an article about it a while ago and I think someone posted a counter article saying it didn't or some shit.

But hell if there's even a chance it could, wait a while or don't do it. I don't know..

Pot doesn't lower your testosterone... I know, because if it did, I wouldn't have a baby :nut:

Social_disease, you should definitely drink a shake after you workout and take some glutamine before working out, it helps out a ton. I also smoke a bowl right after, I love it.

I just read an article on bodybuilding.com which said

Oh by the way, not 1 gram/lb of bodyweight, 1 gram/lb of MUSCLE. And last I remember, you are not 100% muscle! I believe the logic to using bodyweight as a reference for protein recommendation is for simplicity purposes when generalizing to the general population.
