found an article stating that gamers are not as anti-social as they are always depicted

interesting read, but some of the information given doesnt really prove anything

like: gamers are twice as likely to go on dates...

I think Halo and xbox in general sort of broke the mold that video games are for geeks. Simple design, easy to learn controls , great co-op and versus modes appealed to pretty much everybody.

edit:

Though I'd have to disagree with this

"more social, more active, and more valuable as consumers"

Sure, maybe people around my age (im 25, so lets say 20+ yrs old)

Kids younger than that (8-19 years old) tend to do more online gaming rather than going to a buddies house and playing games. When i see "Co-op" the first thing i try and find out is if i can bring it, with a case of beer over to my friends house and have a fun night.

With the extent of online gaming now (xbox live, WoW, etc) there is no real reason for kids to leave their house without their parents booting them out the door. I remember growing up and being very active in baseball, soccer, hockey and football. On the weekends i used to rent a game and hop on my bike and take it to my friends house. We'd play for a few hours till we got bored then would go for a bike ride or try and get a few friends together for a soccer game.

Doesnt seem to be the case anymore.

halo was a break through to make gaming less nerdy for sure.
but "gamers" are still what they are. not anti-social, just more electronically social i guess haha.. i know some pretty normal people that are hardcore gamers, but then i know more that are outright nerdy/anti-social.

They aren't always fat losers or funny looking loners... some are both.
