It says right in the article you posted:

According to these sources, Acura decided that the demand for a TSX diesel would be greatly compromised if it were only offered with a 6-speed manual, so they decided to put the TSX diesel on indefinite hold.
More car buyers prefer automatics than manuals.

I understand. But if the development say is 6 months away, why make people wait? MT first and auto later. It won't be high volume either way.

More European diesels are starting to land next year, it's a shame Honda can't join the party. I was looking forward to diesel in the truck/SUV lines.

I agree, aren't some sales better than no sales? Plus this way they can work out any design flaws that come from the engine before they debut the auto later

Ward's Auto confirms:

Pushed back to 2010 or later.

Toyota (Subaru) and Chrysler also postponing new diesel introductions.

this is stupid, all these companies dump money into hybrids, when there is a simpler solution with diesel.. yet you can't get it in america... wtf...

Diesel supply sucks in NA. I'm sure only government intervention can help diesel.

Better yet how about hybrid that's diesel and electric instead of gasoline and electric. Running diesel full time is still worse than part time diesel and part time electric.

Paying 2 premiums?

Adding DI and Turbo to low displacement gas engine will close the gap with diesel engine. I think that's better than waiting for refineries to increase diesel supply.

I have no idea. DI and turbo to a low displacement gas engine sounds good to me. Maybe that's what Honda will do now.

I predict the "HYBRID Version 2", HV2 for short. DI, turbo, gasoline and electric.

:)

I just read the info from BMW Canada on the 2009 335d, and it's coming to Canada later this year but unfortunately only as a 6AT, no 6MT.

It's gonna be expensive if you get rear ended.

You got a TSX that can't make AT, and a BMW that won't release MT. These 2 should talk.

No 6MT because of the amount of torque. The 6MT cannot handle the Powa!
