Just wondering if anyone can confirm what model of Chrsyler shares the same platform as the Mercedes Benz C Class

I'm comparing the C350 and C63 AMG btw. Can anyone also confirm what other parts are being used for both chassis?

Thanks

maybe a or dodge Avenger???? I have a 2008 c300 and to me the only thing that feels cheap is the plastic they use. Other than that I am extremely happy with my c class.

The 300's and Chargers are on an older E class benz platform (or so was the buzz when they first came out)

It's sharing the same chassis with the Sebering

Yes I read somewhere but I can't find it now on the net that the C Class shares the platform with the Chrysler Sebring.

El-Nino: Which dealer did you buy from? Any issues with the car so far?

Thanks

Lonestar. Had my cd player replaced cause it was Jammed. I was pushing too many buttons at once and I think i jammed it. Anyways, they gave me a new one so it didn't really matter.
Love the car man. Still turns heads and better bang for buck then the BMW when it comes down to standard options.

300 is based on previous gen E-Class. No other platform is shared.

But their are lots of Mercedes parts to be found. 08 Caravan use the same key as last gen S class for example.

I don't see how the FWD avenger can share a 'platform' with a MB C-class? Does the avenger have a transmission tunnel?

I know the crossfire shares the SLK platform... but they are both RWD small convertible/coupes.

The 300 series is heavily based on the W210 E Class, so much so they use the same dash wiring harness. However, the Front (?, maybe the rear, I forget) suspension, is from the W220 S Class.

Thanks for the info, bobby

I recently had the chance to drive the SRT8 and the power / luxury inside is perfect. Impeccable design by my standards, as opposed to the latest TDI that was about to buy, 'tilll found the engine under powered for the size of the car and the interior / dash completely obsolete in design+ horrible plastic parts with barely some electronics for a car at 34 000

Lots of right and wrong info in this thread.

300C was built on a modified outgoing W210 E class platform (it was about to be discontinued in the MB line), and the current W204 C class doesn't share it's platform with anything yet. If I was to guess, the next SLK and the next CLK will be based on the W204.

Ya...I was going to say, there's no way that the sebring shares anything with the new C class! That would be a huge surprise to me!

The old SLK is the Crossfire

The old E is the 300/Magnum/Charger

The Sebring is FWD.... it shares nothing with the RWD C class Duh!

Will be placing my order for one of those soon, depending if there are engine upgrades for the C350 next MY. There should be engine upgrades to coincide with the release of the next gen E class.

SLK's 3.5 already got the bump. I would assume C's would get the same treatment next year.

I find it strange that the SLK got the bump before the E-Class OR the C-class. It's a poor selling car, so perhaps they needed to push it?

BUMP.

I'm looking at a C350 or a IS350. Anything else in that price/class range that I should look at? Not too fond of the BMWs or Audis.

Infiniti G35/37, Cadillac CTS, Acura TL

EDIT: Saab 9-3 as well.

If you're not too fond of the best in class then I'd settle for the CTS or the TL...

No, personally I'm just not fond of the interior of the BMW and Audi reminds me too much of VW. I'll revisit the Audi A4 as it did get the 2009 AJAC "best new luxury".

I had a friend with a G35... pretty nice I must say. Haven't even thought about a Saab.

I'll be checking out the C350 and the CTS later on today.

Anyone have had personal experience with the new C-class?

edit: 4wd/awd preferred.... which cuts down my list...

A buddy of mine just bought a C350 and I think it is great aside from no manual transmission. I totally don't think you could go wrong with one if that isn't an issue. They are such a huge improvement over the old C Class it is just amazing. I also really like the CTS, A4 and G35/37. I would just personally stay away from the IS350 and the TL. All of the others are great cars imo.

I was gonna order a 2009 C350, but decided to hold off till the MY2010 comes out, because the new E series will be debuting as well. If the rumors are true, a new 3.5L V6 300hp engine will be introduced too, and trickle down into the C350.

You can't go wrong with a C350 4Matic. For $55k, you get a fully optioned out car with navigation, keyless start, panoramic sunroof, 18" inch wheels, AMG bodykit, etc. Much better than a 335i, minus a few ponies.

I went down to Hyatt today and test drove the MY09. All they had was the C300 on the lot so took that out. Good impression from the drive, smooth going uphill and accelerating. The C350 4MATIC would even be smoother in my opinion with many of the upgrades that I would enjoy (nav, pana sunroof, etc). One thing I kept doing was using the cruise control stick as my turn signal... LOL... not use to it being in that position.

I wouldn't mind getting one and like you had said, for less than $60K out the door, it's a good value pick. Not as many horsepowers as the BMW but that's not what I'm looking for. One thing is amount of plastics.. high grade plastics.

I wouldn't mind one in White w/ either black or grey interior.

I went to go sit in the CTS and no, it's not my thing.

Now off to Audi tomorrow to check out the A4.

If you are looking at the A4 I'd also look at the VW CC. Car looks awsome inside and out.
