well the place i live... bsmt suit was just developed before i moved in. So the question/problem i have is that the tap water from the kitchen sink has a very funny taste to it... almost tastes like plastic? is this common for new water feed lines? in my bathroom the tap water is just fine thats where i fill my cup up since i love to drink water and cant stand the taste of the other tap...so any plumbers got an idea on what only the one fauset has funny taste in the water?

thanks

Check the water supply pipe/ fittings to the tap to ensure that PVC or PE (Polyethylene)pipe , suited for drinkable/potable water use was used. If the supply line is something such as rubber hose, or something else "abnormal" you might have issues.

It will likely decrease in poor taste over time. It might be worth getting a Brita type in-line water filter if you are concerned.

If you take a picture of the lines under the sink (if you are unsure of what I speak of), I can let you know if it looks ok to me.

if it is new lines such as copper, (you didn't specify what kind of lines they were) its common that the water have a stale "plastic" taste, due to the flux used while soldering for the first little while.

I've never heard of a bad taste while using pex lines though so if you have those then my best bet is that there is something up with your taps and/or fittings.

post a pic and ill take a look.

ok so here are pics of the water lines...they go to taps like that you have outside for your garden hose...go on the same wall as the washer and dryer room, i dont have access to that room the landlords dont let us use the washer and dryer:banghead: so let me know what you think...

PS what a great install job lol...

ohh and as for over time the taste will dissapate...not happening...ive lived here for like 3 months and it still just as gross as the first time i tried it..

and as for the brita filter thing, will that actually get rid of the taste?

thats ghetto

those steel braided lines should be fine,.. however what they are is,.. rubber hose wrapped in steel braid.

I would try a brita filter for sure

you can get the jug + filter for about $20ish, or the faucet attachment for $35ish

edit:

if you let it run for a min before getting a glas of water,.. does it still taste like plastic?

holy shit... it looks like a retarded monkey plumbed that. why they use a garden hose tap is beyond me.

well i can see your using braided lines so that obviously isn't the problem. i would have to actually see this in person to give you a definite answer. But for now id recommend just one of those faucet attachments.

and as barmanjay said does it still taste like plastic after running the water for a min? Try running the cold for abit, taste it, and then do the same with the warm and get back to us.

ok so i just tried that let it run and then taste it... the grossness went away but i also noticed another odd thing...right when i turn it on after like 2 seconds it like comes out REAL bubblely and thats the part that tastes gross...and it runs like that for about 5 seconds...do you know what that would be?

hmm. it could be your taps. how new are they? try flushing they out by taking out the little screen at the faucet.

I always let the water run for a bit before I take a drink,..

maybe that's what you should be doing,.. doesn't sound like anything you are going to be able to do about it.

I also put on a brita attachment

Fillup jugs/bottles of water,.. keep them cool or in the fridge.

Tastes nice, clean and refreshing
