We should really get some bait cars in this City. Even just for the funny website the City can start. The City could even make money back through advertising!

Yah that would really help with car thefts. They should set up a Skyrine as a bait car it would get stolen in no time.

I'd put my ride up as a bait car if it made me some money for sure.

I love this one:

Link (http://www.baitcar.com/video/the_radio_jumper)

He's totally thinking it might be a bait car before there is a reason to think that! Makes you realize these people DO consider it as a deterrant. Just not enough of one for this guy I guess.

I really don't realize why they don't make a few mods to these cars though. I know sometimes they do in some areas, but one or more of the following on ALL bait cars:

1) Remote shut off- so the guy cannot run.
2) Lock doors automatically.
3) 50k speed limiter
4) Poison gas

(Ok... maybe not #4. But it should be a strong consideration.)

Eff poison gas, they should replace the airbag with a javelin and add the ability to spontaneously set it off.

Looks like we have one now (http://www.gov.calgary.ab.ca/citybeat/public/2008/11/release.20081105_080243_18029_0).

Wanna take bets on what kind of car it will be? I'm guessing either Integra LS or Civic hatch.

The bait car program in BC is a tremendous success. Especially in Surrey where they have the most car crimes in North America (Not to sure though). However, the problem is that the law system in Canada is not harsh enough, its only a handful of crack addicts and so on stealing the cars. Most of the time, they use the stolen cars towards committing other crimes. When they do get busted, it's a slap on the wrist and they are out stealing another bait car next week.
