Ha ha, i'm pretty sure these things don't even have door handles on the inside, just a wire you pull in order to save weight, ha ha. The ultimate "Race" Ferrari. You can see the wire in this pic:

F50's had about one quarter of the production numbers the F40 did, but I'd still rather have an F40.

I have a whole whack of pics from a photoshoot I did of the F40 a while back (the one that's mint and perfect).

I'll have to ask the owner for permission to post 'em... but I can let this one go haha.

Actually, the F40 is pretty damn slow:

Only true when you're talking about stock cars ;) There is a clip on youtube (can't find it) of Trevor's M3 passing a F40 at race city. The blackbird though  There was one on display when I visited the Seattle Museum of Flight last year... what a treat

You do seem to have a firm grasp of the obvious.. guess the Veritas III might count if we are getting crazy:

http://www.painkillerz.ca/magazine.php?id=939

Or a BMW-Williams F1 car (since it is technically stock I suppose and a BMW motor):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WilliamsF1

..but without getting moronic, the F40 is faster than 99.9999% of cars ever produced, stock or otherwise. I think it is a little much to call it slow.

Pics of Kulus:
http://www.madwhips.com/ferrari-f40-in-perfect-mint-condtion/

There has to be AT LEAST 3-4 in Calgary.
- I remember seeing pics of one at the Wednesday night Home Depot meets with everything open. I'm unsure if another one showed up and was in a little nicer condition.
- Then there's the minty one Kulu brought in this year.
- I remember seein pics of one at Eau Claire (ZR?) a long time ago.
- I think someone spotted one at the new dealership (Fchat spotting)
- Not sure which one bart spotted...maybe one of the above...maybe not. Maybe some of the pics I've seen are of the same car hehe.

I bet there's a lot of crazy shit sitting in garages around town. There's no doubt that people have the $$$ for all kinds of stuff these days.

A classic machine for sure.

Its like Batman, might be all over the place, but it doesn't mean there are 3 or 4. There are for sure two though.. the one at the Ferrari dealership for service is the euro spec one that was recently brought into town. The beat up one is the ZR Auto car which went through a very serious accident (I believe it has the plate 2NASTY so it is easy to pick out). A third one was brought in for a ZR Auto event, but I am pretty sure it was returned back to the states (I think it had a Colorado plate if I remember correctly) after the event.

There *could* be more, but I don't think there has been more than two confirmed.

I think that was Roland Linder's replica F40LM that was brought up for the ZR event. 2 local cars sounds right to me, but I heard from a friend a couple years ago that there was a third F40 (as well as an F50) tucked away in some garage. Impossible to confirm though...

Would be nice if there was an F50 in town.. they are beautiful cars. I've never been able to figure out why there isn't as much hype around them as the F40 and Enzo.. the F50 basically has a Formula 1 motor in it, so it would probably be pretty exciting to drive. They sound great.. I've seen a few of them in Europe.

The one at Kulu's shop was one of the two. One of the cars is the ZR car, the other one isn't (the second one is the one that was at Ferrari of Alberta for service).

Isn't there some dude that has a bunch of quonsets outside the city with an F40 and other nice cars?

There was a detailing thread a while ago where some guy from the states flew up to clean up all the cars. The pics were all later taken down at the owner's request.

Yah that guy has an f40 amongst other amazing cars. There is a house on Sifton blvd (spelling) Im quite positive the owner has an f40 and an f50, he had them pulled out in his driveway one day while he was doing some garage cleanup.

That 250GTO is the car I have been thinkin about while searching for pics of this mystery garage. I remember the photographer/detail guy wrote that it was worth some serious money. The F40 is nice...but that 250 is on a different level when it comes to collecter status.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_250_GTO

According to an anonymously authored article in Times Online, a 250 GTO seized by the FBI from a convicted drug dealer was sold in a sealed auction in 1988 for approximately $2 million.[1] In 1989, at the peak of the boom, a 250 GTO was sold to a Japanese buyer for $13.3 million plus commission.[2] By 1991 the market had cooled to the extent that a GTO sold at a Las Vegas auction for $5.5 million,[3] and in 1994 the example that had brought $13.3 million five years earlier changed hands for about $3.5 million.[2] In 2008 an anonymous English buyer bought a 250 GTO at auction for a record £15.7 million.[4]

How common are Testarossa convertibles? I don't think I've seen one before.

edit: I looked it up, apparently it wasn't a factory option.

Ferrari made only one "official" Testarossa Spider. This car was made for Agnelli. There were many conversions done my several companies. Straman (USA) is the most famous one. Others are EuroTech, Pavesi, Lorenz & Rankl, Sbarro, Pininfarina, Koenig and some more.

My car is not a V12tt, it's a 6.3L LS1 based engine, NA for the moment. Also the clip on youtube you can't find, because I removed them all, is from my car passing Kulu's F40 (not being driven hard). Another F40 owned by Fred was the one I went for a ride in, it also got passed, again original F40 (including tires...dicy). When I commented on it not being that fast, being that it is my ultimate dream machine, I was expecting much more.

I believe there are 5 F40's in Calgary.

Chances are it is:

Scarcity and high monetary values led to the creation of several replica 250 GTOs on more common Ferrari chassis. Misrepresentations of the original cars, offered for sale at full market value, have been reported.

Only 36 were actually made.

I dont think it was that close...Todd, the detailer supposedly went power sliding in the F40 before he detailed it

There was a 250GTO and there was a replica Daytona...the 250 was supposed to be worth 17 or 18 mil.
