Hey guys, this is my first post, please take it easy on me if these are dumb questions!

Is this a good choice for a first car? (Is this model reliable, fair price, etc)

1990 240SX (http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/cto/888014681.html)

Also, any ballpark figures on a catalytic converter replacement cost?

Any help or advice/pointers is appreciated
thanks!

Seems decent, although automatic is lame.

Just put a test pipe on it and it shouldn't cost more than $100 all together.

Yeah forget bout Auto tranny. dont waste ur money on that car although it looks decent shape. if you wanna have the full throttle and gear response , go with the 5 speed if you can find.

240 is OK. I don't think it's that great unless your planning to put a SR and drift the thing, but for one: more gas than a Honda....but it comes down to your preference. If I were to go back and choose all over I'd rather have my prelude or teggy before I had a 240.

Cuz honestly the lude and teggy were much more 'reliable' and way way way better on gas, oil, maintenance.

But depends on everyone's setup of course. But in general if you want a reliable car start with a honda or acura maybe. Low maintenance expense and wide aftermarket parts or stock parts available. The more available = cheaper.

+U got chances that car has been driven to shits.

I know drove the fuck out of mine :poosie:

hm.. okay

That IS true about the honda/acura reliability thing..
i was considering an integra, but i just don't like the 4 headlights on the 1994+ integras
maybe i'll look 'round for an earlier model Integra
