GM is showing off six new Camaro concepts at SEMA and one has a 550hp LS7 V8. New Z28 anyone?

It would be an SS if anything but it looks like the SS has a supercharged V8 instead of the LS7. Odd for a Z28 to offer more performance than a SS.

If one more dumbass posts up a Camaro with 100+ more horsepower than the SS and calls it a Z28... for fuck's sake, you would swear these morons have zero knowledge of the Camaro's history.

Since DAY ONE, it has ALWAYS been SS > Z28 > base models in terms of power.

Doesn't the SS come with an LS3? I thought that was already confirmed.

b_t is right, they should have made the Z28 with the LS3 and then made an SS model with LS9/LSA/LS7

And yeah, the black Camaro looks like it would eat children, love it

That black Camaro is TOTALLY sick. I'd buy that in a second.

If I wasn't poor, of course.

um no.

notice how there's significantly less Z28's than SS's? maybe because it was a special code not available to the public?

You might want to reread what he said.

Power has always been SS>Z28>Base Model

He didn't mention rarity/collectability.

Sigh

The SS package TRADITIONALLY has been the higher HP package, for the few years it was produced. The Z28 though has been produced for FAR more years than the SS. If you do any research on any Camaro site, It's already been all but confirmed that the Z28 will be the top model. Any chevy can be an SS, but only a Camaro can be a Z28

To further elaborate on the whole SS and Z28 thing,

SS package: 67-72, 96-2002 = 11 years

Z28 package: 67-2002 = 35 years

It would make no sense for the Z28 to the highest power car  Any Chevy can be an SS, and if it is an SS, it damn well better be the most powerful version of that particular car.
Also remember GM has a long tradition of keeping the Corvette as their fastest car. With the ZR1 out, that's pretty easy now, but I still don't think they would be putting out a 550hp Camaro that would annihilate a Z06.

The Z28 wont be faster than the a z06, i don't think anybody is saying that. The SS package will be available as soon as the camaro is released, with gm saying a lower production Z28 package to follow the next year. The Z28 wont have z06 power levels, and the SS weighs in at like 3800 pounds... about 700 pounds heavier than a z06

Z28 was the top model of the first gen cars, the last ones made the SS was the top dog but originally it was the Z28.
