ok. my day got ruined less than an hour after i woke up.
i drove to school, was kinda late, raced to get a spot, got my spot, hurried to take my faceplate off my cdplayer. and reached over for the glovecompartment to grab the faceplate box. basically this is what happened. as i was reaching over the faceplate flew out of my hand. and also at the same time my brother had gotten out of the car and was closing the door. as he pushed it and let go, my face plate had time to fly exacly half way down between the floor and the door. and SMACK. big crack across bottom center about 5cm long. and to add to that its slightly bent, cant tell unless u install it. and the front lcd display is broken on the inside, cause the colors are all fuvked. FUCK. it still works though. now the question is. is there any way to get a new face plate? i will no longer keep it in the glove compartment to keep this from happening. its an expensive sony one... the faceplate doesnt contain anything important beside the display stuff right? so its NOT as expensive as the whole unit right ? please gimme some info i need it to calm down... or get more restless maybe

just had to vent and share.. FUCK

:guns: max :banghead: im a retard :banghead:

ouch! i'm pretty sure if you still have proof that you bought it you can order a new faceplate... i think they are $$ though

I had to order another faceplate also.
Usually the company (JVC, Panasonic, Sony, ...) will direct you to their distribution office.
Sometimes they will ask for proof like a photo copy of the reciept, photocopy of owner manual, the broken faceplate, etc.
But in my case JVC just wanted my credit card number and address for shipping.
To get my face plate it was $140 after tax/shipping. But that was less than half of what I paid for the entire deck so it was worth it.

i always thought that was the point of removable faceplates... if its missing, the deck is useless... but i guess if you can prove to them its damaged i cant see a problem

If its an expensive sony deck, i think it will cost around 200$ to replace. My pioneer was around that price, i didnt replace but lookd into it.

Hmm...check ebay for one, or goto an authrized sony dealer and get info on it. Or call sony yourself.

Your best bet is ebay. Usually you can find a good deal for them. Or else take proof of receipt to any authorized sony car audio dealer, they can get em too. But its pricey

Get an alarm. I got one right after someone broke into my car for the first time, never had a problem since.

To protect the deck, and the stuff inside the car, not really the car itself ;)
