You could do Chili Club Thai House, Moroccan Castle or Mercato. When you say different, I assume ethnic? You could also try Marathon, the ethiopian restaurant in Kensington.

How many years you been together? (makes a difference)

And by the way you saying "not too much"... I'm guessing 1-3 years together

3 years.

We eat at alot of restaraunts like earls, smugglers, open sesame. I was looking for something different....

I guess by different I mean not so mainstream, like not a chain restaraunt.

Maybe some smaller calgary only restaraunts that are not available anywhere else? :dunno:

Not chain restaurants eh? Man, there are a ton.

Chili Club is small and very good thai food.

Mercato is very cool.

Belgo

La Brezza is a quaint, inexpensive italian restaurant

Bistro 2210 is very nice, not overpriced and small

Piq Niq downtown is very classy

Escoba is a Favorite, very nice for an anniversary

Village Cantina in Inglewood is very casual, if you want to go that route

Fleur De Sel is a fantastic place for an intimate anniversary dinner. Its small and very good food and romantic

If none of those interest you, I'm sure I can think of others :)

Murietta's if you can spend a bit. Moroccan Castle is also very secluded and private but not a big menu.

Bistro 2210 is on 4st and is 2 doors down from Mercato. Very good food, small yet modern atmosphere. The website doesnt work, so I would call and check hours before you go.

Escoba is awesome.

It used to be in the fantastic location in Penny Lane, down the stairs and it had an almost wine cellar feeling. The new place is just as nice and the food is fantastic

...Has it really only been 3 years between you two? I thought you started going out right around the time Vicky and I did, our 5 year was last month.

Give the upper level of Catch a try, although it can get a bit pricey.

Actually another place you might want to try is River Cafe on Prince's Island.

Try Blowfish Sushi. (If you two like sushi) It is a smaller, higher end place and pricing works out to about 30 bucks a head with a drink or two.
Pretty nice place with pretty damn good sushi!!

My friend works at Nectar Desserts and it's a definite spot if you want to impress a date. A couple drinks and dessert for each and you're looking at upwards of 30$ easy. For 2 pieces of cake and a couple drinks it's alot. I tried the chocolate pate and some nice port. It was definitely worth the money I spent there.

Pulcinella is always a good spot too.

If you go ask for a spot where you can see the oven they cook the pizza in. It's impressive how they smoke the pizza as well.

La Pulcinella (http://www.pulcinella.ca/)

plus last time I was in there they had a spotless Ducatti sitting in the restaurant...But still very very classy...Just happened to have a superbike sitting in the restaurant haha.

I thought the Bear's Den food didn't reflect the price we paid.

Try River Cafe or Embarcadero.

If you enjoy watching your date vomit. I suppose some people are into that.

that can't be common me and my ex went plenty of times and we never even got close to being sick and we never ordered the same thing twice except the appetizer lasagna which is amazing. Bad experience can happen at the best restaurants.

I stand corrected. It should have read:

"If you and your date enjoy eating vomit."
