View Full Version : Owner of a white lambo

From today's Metro:

"Witnesses are being sought after a white Lamborghini driving westbound on Highway 72 near Airdrie was nailed by Airdrie RCMP Nov 7 for allegedly reaching speeds of 218 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. The male driver has been charged with careless driving. Anyone with information is asked to call Airdrie RCMP at 403-945-7228"

Can't be too many white Lambos rolling around Calgary.

There's got to be more than one. I know there's a guy in Queensland (ya, I know) with one. He can't be the only one.

The guy will no doubt fight the charges, so crown wants witness statement as further evidence...my guess.

To above, yes there is more than one white lambo in the city...

I'm guessing because the driver was charged with careless driving and there are no witnesses, the charge can be fought quite easily because of 123(b).

If the highway was deserted, 123(b) can't be proven. 123(a) also can't be proven as the driver could have been driving with care and full attention to the road (you have to if going 200+)

Careless driving
123 A person who drives a vehicle on a highway
(a) without due care and attention, or
(b) without reasonable consideration for persons using the highway,
is guilty of the offence of driving carelessly.

I've seen a couple white Lambos running around.

I'm curious why they would need witnesses. They must have lost sight of him for a good chunk of time and caught up with him later. Especially with words like "allegedly" being tossed around.

Without those witnesses, someone's getting off a careless driving charge, methinks.

There are many white lambos in Calgary.. it would not be all that difficult to get going that speed in a modern lamborghini I suppose.

Pretty hard to ID the driver as male when the vehicle is travelling 218 KM/H unless they pulled him over. They could obviously just assume gender and be right 99% of the time, but assumptions don't stand up in a courtroom.

Maybe they don't even have a license plate number -- could also be a reason why they need witnesses. 'We saw a white Lamborghini speeding, but that's all the info we have." Also, judging by the definition of the charge (123), it almost seems like yes he was speeding, but there really wasn't anyone else on the highway at the time (2 or 3 AM? just guessing).

My understanding (which is probably wrong :nut: ) is they caught him speeding and due to the number of phone in complaints want to make more charges.

"was nailed by Airdrie RCMP Nov 7"

Nailed means he/she pulled over and got a ticket.

Not a big deal.

Because its a lambo it makes the news.

Over the speed limit of 55kph and you get a manitory court appearance.

The RCMP seem to be more understanding when it comes to speeding. When I was pulled over in my younger days by the RCMP the officer wasn't the slightest bit pissed off that I was going that fast. In fact he said he would the same if given the opportunity.

I'm sure they're glad people do it on quieter highways than on busy city streets.

IIRC, Newlextasy has been spotted near Airdie multiple times and also made a recent comment on how he was close to losing his license.

Pretty vague on the white Lambo though. Off the top of my head:

1 standard Gallardo (newLex)
1 LP560
1 LP640 Roadster
1 92 Diablo
1-3 Countach
1 Jalpa

in Calgary.

You're not going to go to jail for speeding on a deserted road.

I got clocked at 245 in a 90 zone (highway) when I was 18. All I got was a massive fine and expensive insurance. Didn't even lose my license.

Getting pulled over with guns drawn, however, was kinda scary.

HaH true! My last trip to Vegas I was caught going 98MPH in a 60 Zone! Just a nice big ticket and a threat that he could take me to jail!

I know it sounds like being a big hypocrit to say that many of us haven't done over 200.....Honestly, it just sucks he got busted.....Deserted highway...That is a different story. Its not like some of the retards that get busted in Calgary trying to race down busy streets during the day.

Sounds like the cop got back to the station, told his story, and his bosses had a shit fit because he gave the wrong ticket.

Sounds like you might be able to get out of a careless driving ticket, but a speeding ticket would've had more severe (or at least more prosecutable) penalties.

Whether it be a nissan, a lambo, a ferrari, a bmw...or anything else. If it's on a deserted highway and you're only endangering yourself then what's the harm...If he crashed into a tree and killed himself he didn't bring another car with him so who cares...

I agree that the car is meant for speed. Even so, this is a little excessive. With that said, if it was a deserted road I've heard of a lot worse. Not a lot faster, but with cars not designed to go those kinds of speeds.

I MIGHT have had my Audi 4.2 doing 240k on that long bridge section in Roger's pass, but it was 100% clear of cars, people, and the conditions were dry. Felt great, and very solid at those speeds!

My old '94 MX6 2.0L (115hp) could do a bit shy of 220: its not that fast.. at all. My buddies bone stock '00 Jetta VR6 can do 252.... I followed him on my bike. :dunno:

Not to sure what the pre-occupation is about over 200 being fast.

LOL my 2.0L MX6 could also do just shy of 220, but that vehicle was not 'heavy' by any means, and also had one of the lowest drag coefficients this side of a honda insight.

From what I've read, it's a bunch of members making opinions and judging the person that got pulled over in the Lambo. For all I know, he wasn't even speeding, since he never got a speeding ticket.

:werd: .. I swear some people make up laws and legal advice on beyond lol
