Any suggestions on where to get a nice and tasty birthday cake that won't break the bank? Not looking at sheet cakes from supermarkets, DQ ice cream cake, or Yamato's cakes. If you can also mention how much notice to give before you order?

Thanks!

My cousin ordered some of their tarts and they were really, really good. I didn't pay, so I can't comment on their prices. Though, if theiir cakes are half as good as their tarts... I think they require 48 hours for special orders, but have some cakes there that are made daily.

Manuel Latruwe Belgian Patisserie &Bread Shop

located next door by head office of bernard calleburt on macleod trail. i think they also require 48 hours for orders too.

or something less money, you can go to Linas market on Center street for true Italian cake.

you can also go to amandine bakery on centre street. their strawberry shortcake is the best.

If icecream cake is still ok as you said no DQ, Marble Slab has great icecream cakes with a big selection of flavours.

Best cake I ever had was from Jing Jing Bakery in Chinatown, the fruit filled one, icing is not sweet, cake is just amazing, can't say enough good about it.

You hardly need any notice they sell it by the pound. If you call them and tell them it's for 2 or 8 people they will direct you on how much you will need.

LOLLLLLL....

based on some of the suggestions, this is getting out of hand! you are looking for a nice cake that won't break the bank, but what does that mean? cause nice=expensive and there are a lot of filthy rich MFs on beyond that will suggest a $200 cake! j/k, but if you could give a price range that you are looking at, i think it would help a lot! :burnout:

I got a cake at Safeway last week. It was shaped like an alligator and made out of cupcakes. 16$, fed 10 people and was very yummy lol

thanks for all the suggestions, I didn't even know about some of these places like the cakeworks business. Ideally, I'd like to spend <$80 for a cake which would need to serve 5 ppl. I totally forgot about marble slab and never knew Lina's had cakes, I'll have to check them out.
