Hey people. I am looking for a different car and my budget is $8k. I want something that is:

-luxury
-decent gas mileage
-sedan
-low mileage preferably

So I found a 2000 Nissan Maxima with only 80k km's for $8k. It has leather and all that jazz. I did some research and it looks like they had some issues and a recall or something. If anyone here has had a Maxima of this year or knows alot about them please let me know.

Also, if anyone wants to suggest another car that would be good for me, that would be nice as well.

Thanks in advance. Peace.

You're better of going with either a camry or an accord.

You could probably get a 2000-2002 Saab 9-3 for that price.

Leather, all options, turbo 4cylinder engine and a cool looking exterior for a car I think is pretty undervalued.

For 8K, it's highly unlikely that you're going to get a car with low miles and luxury.

The first gen 9-3's arent the best cars around. Some have had 'Car Computer' issues. Electrics are issues with the first generation as well.

OP, please define luxury. Are you looking for:

A) A luxury marque? (Ie. BMW, Lexus, Acura, etc.)

B) A solid ride with a leather interior, good sound system, well appointed, well optioned vehicle, regardless of brand image.

You're not going to find many low milage luxury brands for your asking price. Not without finding something seriously wrong with them anyway.

Saabs are definitely underrated vehicles.

I'd at least take one for a test drive, and then talk to a mechanic about them to see if they are finicky bitches.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. When I say luxury, I don't necessarily mean top end luxury names like BMW, Benz, Lexus, etc. I just meant luxury options like leather, all power, heated seats, climate control, etc.

That Toyota is actually very nice, I have never heard of those before. And that Legend that was posted is nice also, I actually came across it on auto trader. Both cars are quite old though. I am thinking if something went wrong, it could be quite expensive. I do like the Saab 9-3's though but all the ones I found on auto trader were more than $8k.

Thanks for all the comments, cars, info, etc. Please keep them coming, it's greatly appreciated.

Just search for Accord and Camry. Can't go wrong with those if budge is an issue.

Maybe a newer Hyundai - should be cheaper than a Honda and theyve really stepped up their game.

This car is absolutely mint. I emailed the seller for more pics and he sent me about a dozen. I'm a huge fan of these :)

My parents have a 2000 Maxima. Original owner, locally purchased, and maintenance kept up to date.

Car still has quite a few expensive issues. MAF sensor was a $600 fix and is quite a common problem. Coil packs/Ignitor are known to fail and that was a $1200+ fix.

Recalls are done for free at the expense of Nissan so I wouldn't be too worried about it. You can check the VIN to make sure all recalls are up to date.

Legends are great cars, but for that price I would definitely recommend a 3.5RL, very underrated cars, dead reliable, smooth spacious comfortable drivers with all the features you would need. They are no hot rod, but the 3.5 gets allot of its torque lower in the range, so it almost feels like a small V8. You can get them for a great price these days - definitely look at them.

I actually really like RL's as well. If anyone comes across any good ones please post them here. That would be great.
