I usually wear it for the entire month of November. Of all the causes out there, the veterans are at the top of my list in terms of support worthiness.

What's the etiquette with regard to the poppies after November 11th? I was told today that it is actually disrespectful which I find hard to believe. Googled it and got nothing - somebody posted a thread in a forum but no replies.

Does anyone know the answer and can provide a source? Also interested in personal opinions.

My feeling on this is that it's most respectful to stick to the program that the Legion has set out, namely wear it up to and during November 11th, and then take it off.

I do agree that Veterans causes are very worthy.

If I saw someone wearing a poppy on purpose well after the 11th, I would just think "hey, that person is really dedicated." The last thing on my mind is "wow, that guy's a disrespectful jerk", unless you were wearing it as a fashion accessory or something.

I see quite a few seniors wearing it throughout the year.

My family has a few veterans (including my father). They wear the large plastic poppy from the beginning of November up until the 11th and afterward they wear a metal poppy lapel pin the rest of the year.

As far as I know, their is no prohibition against wearing it year round, although I could be wrong.

I wear it only on Nov 11th for the same reason I only wear a costume on Oct 31st. Nothing to do with respecting or disrespecting vets, it's just the way it is :dunno:

I wouldn't think it would be disrespectful. I normally wear one from the 1st to the 11th :dunno:

I was down at the Memorial Park ceremony and most people gave theirs up when it was done. Don't really see a point to wearing it after, but I'm not gonna get all moody if I see anyone doing it.

I don't think it would be out of place for November. It might look a little strange in say, March but I don't think you would come across anyone giving you a hard time about it.
