Very mild redesign i think,to go head on with 2010 Camaro.

I like how they have been teasing so long with the individual pictures, theyn they fuck up like this
Nice styling though, the engines though......

Brakes don't look very substantial.

Brakes have never been substantial on Mustangs. Not meant to stop I guess :)

I personally dont think they can do much for a redesign... this is the problem with all these retroish designs, you cant really change the basic shape much without losing continuity from the previous generation.

looks a little more flowing. looks better IMO

The changes are mild but I think I like the current model better.

Camaro > Challenger > Mustang IMO

its okay i guess.
hahaha
not to much of a change really.

i would have to say,
Camaro>mustang>challenger

No one ever said this was a redesign so I don't know WTF people were expecting, lol. It's subtle changes/updates. The rear needed an update and looks better now.

Looks good for a Mustang. Can't wait to see a Mustang Cobra

Definitely an improvement in styling, even if it is just a small one. And the interior looks way better imo.

The only part I am really dissapointed in is the engines. They really should have put the 24v 3.5L V6 in the base (giving it about 270ish hp) with both a six speed manual and auto and the 4.6L should have been bumped to about 350hp and also available with a 6 speed manual and auto.

Without those two changes I think it will just have trouble competing with the Camaro.

Ford didn't try at all.

It looks a bit better - but let's face it - it's the same damn car. The Camaro trumphs this Mustang design easy.

I think the exterior is brutal. Half the car isn't even painted anymore. There is enough plastic hanging off the bottom to build one of those first gen Saturn VUEs. (ok slight exaggeration). It screams V6 Version to me. Speaking of V6 - the new V6 bumper looks 100X better than the GT - what the hell? The tail lights are very oddly shaped and the alternating red/white doesn't look good at all. The headlights look like something you'd order from an APC catalog. Fog lights are cut off at the top now which looks like they put them on, closed the hood and said oh fuck they don't fit - snip snip. The fact that they gave the car a little bit of hip on the rear quarters is awesome but overall I'm seriously disappointed.

The interior updates are fantastic though. I love the square vents in the center of the dash replacing the 2 round suckers they put in mine. It more retro for sure. More controls on the steering wheel. Seats look better too (although I have no complaints with mine). The center stack looks fancy. I like onboard nav / reverse camera display deal. Gas/brake/clutch pedal upgrades are tasteful. Leather wrapped park brake nice. Ambient lighting is very cool too but nothing new.

Anyone concerned about power shouldn't be. The redesigned mustang GT will be slower than a Camaro SS by a few tenths and crush similarly priced Challenger R/Ts all day long. The fact is the competition is packing quite a few extra pounds at the scales.

Did they get rid of the solid rear axle at the very least?

Nope. A lot of people are crying for IRS still and a 6 speed. I could care less about either personally. It would be nice to have but there are warranty friendly solutions available for wanna be track stars.

I mean my stone aged live axle setup with FRPP handling pack (available in the same accessory catalog you get your mudflaps in) and wide tires is a similar setup to that on a Shelby GT-C. 0.97g's on the skidpad according to motortrend with minimal sacrifices in ride quality. I have no doubt this optional equipment will be available for the 2010 as well.

its weird, i know its just a bit of a refresh but it seems like it got squashed from above or something for some reason :S. led tail lights are really nice, minus the placement of the reverse lights (although i don't know how i would do better).

the new interior is a lot nicer for sure. but I have to say I am surprised they didnt do more in the way of engines to try and steal some thunder from the camaro that is right around the corner.

bottom line: questionable exterior changes + same live rear axle + mildly raised price + disappointing performance numbers = :dunno:

I like the changes. They aren't the most tech forward car ever, but I've always like the Mustang.

There will be three engine options for the GT. The base GT will have 315 horepower, than i heard there will be a 400HP GT and a Supercharged 500HP GT all done up from ford.

Would like to get my hands on the 500HP GT version of this car.

Yah they mentioned this on the 2010 reveal on speed channel.

Those are optional Ford Racing supercharger upgrades. Currently available for 05-09 mustangs already.

Also according to the show the handling pack which i already have on my car and described in an earlier post will be available. Plus there's always the drag pack and power pack that im sure bolt right up as well. All warranty approved.

What is really awesome is they are actually encouraging owners to go ahead and modify and boost their V8s and retain warranty (at least I know the 400hp version will). That's wicked.

Interesting. Like I've said in a previous thread I'm looking at picking up a Mustang in the near future. I was liking the 2V Bullitt and a 4V Mach 1 but I'm curious to see the new GT line up. I plan on doing a lot of hot-lapping courses so I wanted to remain N/A with the car.

On a side note for any of the 2V guys reading this. You may want to check out my thread in the performance section of the forums.

Mach 1 is 3V as well. Cobra is 4V.

I've got less than 40K (cost of car included) spent on my 05GT and it devours corners with ease thanks to the ford racing handling pack and some wider, stickier rubber.

If you are buying used you could spend considerably less obviously and have a great hot lapping car with a few simple upgrades.

Why all the camo when out testing? I seriously wouldn't have spotted this on the street and noticed it wasn't an '05.

 Good to know!

What ever I get one of the first modifications is going to be a Maximum Motorsports "The Sport Box".

Maximum Motorsports definitely puts out quality stuff as far as I've heard

See how a little paint goes a long way. Check out the Falken 2010 Drift Mustang from the 2010 reveal on speed channel. Painted side skirts, rear bumper and bits of the front bumper. MUCH better.

Considering every body panel except maybe the doors is different and the interior has been completely changed except for the general shape of the dash. I'd say they've done quite a bit with this update. If it looks the same to you, get your eyes examined.
