Does anyone know where I can get a high temp powder coat for headers? It has to be able to withstand at least 1600 degrees. The highest I was able to find is only good to 1000 degrees.

bah.. I got that from top gun, and it peeled after a few months...
I wouldn't recommend it..
they're willing to recoat it, but it's an 8 hour job for a mechanic to get my headers off and on..
I'm also running a ceramic coated manifold from Top Gun. I went with the aluminum (shiny) colored coating. It has definately faded where the maximum heat is...but it certainly doesn't peel at all.

Hey
Don't have it powdercoated!! Get it ceramic coated at Top Gun! They are the only ceramic coaters in the city and they do a great job! Ceramic coating keeps the heat down and looks beautiful. Powdercoating has no actual function except for making it look a different color.
Just my $0.02 cents
Good Luck

One thing to remember with Top Gun though is that they are never finished on time. They will try to tell you it will take however many days(ex. 7 days) but what they really mean is like 2 - 2 1/2 weeks. Everyone that I have ever seen take parts there has ended up waiting extra long to get the parts back.

the shiny stuff is more for show. the black colored coating is the higher stuff.

Actually, the shiny stuff is not for show!! It keeps engine temps down by keeping the heat reflected into the area that is coated. I personally have never heard of this black crap but when you want to get heat shielding done get ceramic coating. I believe the black stuff would be powdercoating which does crap for heat.

Yeah.. it's the black ceramic.. rated for a much higher heat then the silver colored ceramic..
however, as I said earlier.. I have it.. it peeled... dunno why, dunno how.. but it was crap for me that is costing me a LOT of money..
