Hello,
Anyone know of any cool metal that newish or somewhat undiscovered cause listening to my same albums is getting kinda dry. I like music like Machine Head, Trivium, As I Lay Dying, to stuff like Cradle of Filth. Any metal is welcome  . So anyone have stuff they'd like to share?

Lamb of God FTW
All that Remains isn't bad. Gojira is my personal favorite band but is a little different from the ones you listed. Divinity is a pretty crazy local tech thrash band. I was big into Divine Heresy for awhile too. Mnemic is also pretty sweet - really heavy blend of Pantera, Meshuggah and Fear Factory.

Phil_McGraw

Yeah totally forgot about Lamb of god, to me they are the best, I'm going to Metallica to see them not Metallica. Love Gojira(pissed i didnt go when the came). But yea Ill check out those bands. I heard LOG will be playing stuff from their' new album when the come here, anyone know if this is true?

How about... the Faceless? Pretty sweet technical stuff. Veil of Maya is really good too, if you don't mind cool breakdowns. Neuraxis and Into Eternity are also really wicked bands.

Just because they are not listed.

In the Moment

They openned for Rob Zombie and I found myself enthralled with their music, the bassist and drummer just seem to mesh well.

Not sure where they fit in, but I like them.. not so bad for werkin' out to either...

I've always found Tungsten to be a great metal. It's cool if you have it in a cool environment, as it adapts to the ambient temperature. It's not exactly "undiscovered", as it is the typical material used in light bulb filiments. However, it is indeed "newish" in it's recent application to popular jewelry. I think it would meet your requirements quite well.

And yes, I AM a dork. ;)

Nice list there lad!

You got a copy of Kalmah's For the Revolution yet? I don't think it's sold in N/A yet. It's badass though, back to the higher singing with a mix of the death growl. More COB style keys too.

You guys should ALL check out Dissection. They are.. well were an amazing band. The bands lead Jon decided his life's destiny was fulfilled and sacrificed himself to the Comsic dark lords lol. Oh well.

5M3cT48qMd0

They also got a song about Maha Kali, the Hindu Goddess. Pretty neat stuff.

The only Dissection worth listening to is The Somberlain and of course, Storm Of The Light's Bane. The band died with Jon's arrest years ago...

Unearth - NEVER seemed to dissapoint me at the 5+ event that I saw them at, always a higher level of stage presence than every other band at the shows they played.

Kataklysm - Pretty good live, really nice guys to talk to, they love their jager :bigpimp:

Verbal Deception - Always loved their style of music and they're local, one of the times they played at mac hall they had a belly dancer up-front on stage dancing to one of the songs haha.

Gwar - I didn't know what to expect from them at first, they're WAY over the top, but as soon as they started spraying the fake blood I thought they were down-right amazing.

A very nice melodic-power-folk (is that even a genre?) band:

A slightly weird band that uses a lot of synth, and has a VERY uniquely voiced lead singer. Slightly flat, but stable and very well suited to the music. (plus Andrea Dätwyler is hot :D)

JUST found out about these guys o_O

Delain... gothic/symphonic metal, along the lines of Within Temptation and Nightwish. They got it all: pedigree (formed by fomer keyboardist for Within Temptation), hot female lead vocalist (Charlotte Wessels), Dutch (so northern european, heartland of all truly epic metal), and love to have fun (just look at the band picture on Wikipedia XD)

The Gathering

Just something of note... for Nightwish fans... yes, that is Marco in the track playing his awesome bass and doing backing vocals o_O! Wikipedia 1, Vagabond 0 :P

I dunno if this qualifies as good metal or as just the most epic cover of all time...

A collaboration band exists, called Northern Kings. It is made up of big Finnish metal names, and they only do covers.

The group is made up of:
Jarkko Ahola (Lead vocals: Teräsbetoni), Marco Hietala (Backing/Local vocals: Nightwish), Tony Kakko (Lead vocals: Sonata Arctica) and Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto (Lead vocals: Charon)

And they did, of all tracks... this song below o_o

These guys are ultra passionate. Crazy. Saw these guys in Edmonton a couple years ago. If it weren't for GWAR they would've been the highlight of the show for me.

Since this has kinda become the official metal thread I figured I'd post here that Pete has left Norther to focus on Ensiferum. Can't say I'm too happy about this. Darkest Time is one of my favourite songs.

Since i havent seen it posted yet:

In Flames - any of the albums

I have been listening to this band for many years, and music comes and goes for me, but I always am able to throw on a flames album and never be bored.

I am starting to like the newer albums more and more.

A sense of purpose, reroute to remain, etc...

check em out.

Bah, they'll never make anything like "Everdying" again. THAT was In flames.. When they used to dress in pure white and circle head bang.

I just listened to Inquisition in a co-worker's car and they sounded pretty good. I only heard one song and I don't remember the name but I'm gonna give them a whirl tonight.

I just came across perhaps the most INTERESTING metal band... because the only metal is the drumkit. It's an a capella group that does metal songs o_O I find it interesting because most a capella stuff is either jazz or choral, but these guys bring a drum into it, have one baritone, two tenors, an alto-tenor and an alto-soprano and, in my own opinion (you may form your own), they actually pull it off decently.

I warn, tho, that it may not be to everyone's liking, but I appreciate the skill it takes to keep 5 strong voices in tune. I'm just posting it because I thought it was pretty cool :D

Van Canto - The Mission
WPOUb_zlDtU

Van Canto - Quest For Roar
rj8TCajunmA

Van Canto - The Bard Song (Blind Guardian cover, for those that have heard of Blind Guardian)
r7Q6585B5n0

And for those wanting an older school metal feel:

Van Canto - Fear of the Dark (Iron Maiden cover. And the "guitar" is one of the tenors with his voice modulated to be distorted like that)

I'm not sure how I feel.

No denying their talent, singing and songwriting. I just can't take it seriously. This is something I do with my friends in a packed car.

RUN DUN DUNDUN DUNDUN DUNDOOOOO

EDIT: K, fuck, I'm enjoying Fear of the Dark way too much. Hahaha.

Yeah, exactly... the first time you listen, you're like "hey, that's funny..." then by the third listen, you're bobbing your head to the beat and humming along before you even realize it. Like I said.... they somehow pull it off o_O and do it well

New album coming in a month :O Looking forward to some more epic metal/power metal to add to my collection XD (and those that hear a little Scorpions in this track, Klaus Meine (lead singer of the Scorpions) is the guest vocalist)

Whee long term bump O_O

Just running out of metal albums to listen to. Have all of Kamelot, Hammerfall, Iced Earth, etc... need some new tunes :D I'm liking the harder songs by Disturbed right now, stuff like:

drTQaAaCeh0

(I realize it's not EXACTLY metal, more hard rock, but it does have a good metal feel to it :D)

So, moar recommendations!

Can't remember all that was in this thread from before, but right now I'm enjoying;

Black Sun Aeon - Darkness Walks Beside Me
Rotting Christ - AEALO
Burst - Lazarus Bird (this came out in late 2008, I still love listening to it, highly recommend you give a go)
Be'lakor - Stone's Reach

Blaze Bayley's newer stuff (the last 2 or 3 albums) have actually been pretty good.

Sorry, no youtube videos. I'm at work.

Yep, I listened to it and what a pleasant surprise - it sounds really good! I wasn't too crazy about the last two albums (sounded too monotone and too boring I thought). The new album finds them changing things up, even doing awesome twin guitar melodies of the old-school on The Alchemist (my favorite song on the new album).

Speaking of new albums, the new 3 Inches of Blood album has been out for a while, but I just got it now. Definitely kick-ass, reminiscent of Advance And Vanquish (I didn't like Fire Up The Blade that much).

Both albums worth checking out.

Not sure if you classify Bullet for My Valentine as "metal" but I'm pumped their finally coming back. Was choked that they didn't come with Avenge and Atreyu a couple years back.

Hrmmm... not "blown away" with that Disturbed track... when I first heard Ten Thousand Fists years ago, I was all "\m/ FUCK YEAH \m/"

Getting the new Maiden album now, tho.... last couple were kinda meh, but if they really have gone back to proper Maiden sounds, should be fucking epic \m/

EDIT: Listening to the new Maiden now... El Dorado had a nice old school IM sound \m/ :D

Bump :poosie:

Been listening to a LOT of Sabaton lately. Awesome war metal and some other, lighter, and at times fun stuff.

(War metal) Primo Victoria (just listen to the lyrics)

One of the lighter, fun ones: Metal Machine. See how many tributes to other songs/bands you can figure out ;) (they help you some in the vid XD)

Hahaha, nice.

I love Sabaton. They're some nice cheesy power metal. Primo Victoria used to be my favourite track by them, but now it's Ghost Division. Awesome shit nonetheless...

I don't normally care for making new year's resolurion, but this year I promised myself to never listen to any doom metal bands no matter how good the review sounds. I fucking can't stand that shit.

I don't have my current play list in front of me, so I am unable to make any recommendations.

Re-release by Tarot of their original release track (their very first), Wings of Darkness. Marco Hietala still has the best damned voice in metal :D What is it with Finland and epically good metal? Must be something in the water or the fact they're full on mentals XD
