I'm learning to drive standard, and was wondering if there are any big open lots to learn in. I'm in the NE and the closest empty parking lot at night that I know of is the zoo, are there any others?

Where do you live in the NE??
lol, you're not landing an airplane so you don't need THAT much space. prairie winds, sunridge mall, marborough mall, community centres...

Watch out for the security guards at Sunridge who dont know how to drive. Torquedog can confirm.

Malls are great, though they tend to be open later and have more customers at this time of the year.
I taught my girlfriend how to drive a standard on a gravel road on the outskirts of the city. :dunno:

How about practicing in the industrial areas?? There's little traffic in the evening.

Where the Crossroads Market(if it's still there)/that indoor go kart place used to be, I remember that lot being pretty wide open....

actually the best parking lot i found is in the south, the new Fluor building, it has small hills for practicing, lots of space, parking spots, even a speedo thing to teach about proper speeds, there is also a stop sign and speed bumps

The superstore near prariewinds has a pretty big parking lot and nobody ever uses the western most portion of the parking lot. that's where I would go.

Go to the parking lot where JYSK is. Behind that stripmall is a warehouse building with a huge lot too.

Isn't the Superstore on the west side of that lot??

Seems to me lots of people don't look at their speedo in parking lots.

NE West Winds Superstore FTW.
Best place to practice; I learned and taught 3 people how to drive standard there.

Practice in an industrial park after supper. They are usually dead by then.
Parking lots are kinda small.

Mind you it's by a ctrain station so you'll get a lot of funny looks from pedestrians walking nearby.
