Has anybody on here bought an astra? I'm looking at the three door, looks like a nice little car - just wondering if anyone has any experiences.

Get the 255hp Nurburgring edition!

Oh wait... that's Vauxhall Astra's only :(

I'd get one, in fact I almost did. All the reviews said its just an awesome little car. The only weakness is that the engine could use a little more power, but thats it. Excellent handling, great ergonomics.
you can tell it really was designed in Europe, just all the little things about it. Cute little car too.

For the price, and what you get you can't go wrong. Like I say I was quite impressed by it. Nice to see GM is started to understand how to build a decent sporty sub-compact.

I walk by one of these on my way to work every now and again and i always take a look at it.

Sort of is a throw back to the Honda hatch backs, and reminds me why i like SOME 2 dr hatches.

Its a great looking car!

My buddy has one.. theyre a great car.. i like the look of them with the larger 18inch 5 spoke wheels. Theyre very euro.

I like the look of them. I swear it was that guy that was crazy about detailing that made me love it so much. It's nice!

I am looking at them right now and the only thing I don't like about the interior is the lack of a center armrest. I do almost all highway driving and it is nice to have one. Haven't taken one for a drive yet so I can't say how it handles yet.

yeah they aren't bad. At some point my family was pushing me to get a lease on something and this was one of the only things other than the FIT that I looked at.

Have my Legend now but would of been very please with the Astra...Always rubberneck when I see one. Definitely European inspired.

It's not Euro inspired, it is Euro. Made in Belgium by Opal (a GM division) re-badged then shipped over here.

We have one. My complaints are the low power and no AUX input. Car handles really good and has that Euro feel.

In the XE the seats suck. Thats my only problem with the Astra. In the XR seats are a lot better, a lot more comfortable.

the astra was highly regarded in 2007, supposed to be a great seller but the price was too high for its class (since it has to be imported). in US sold like 1000 units vs. the new focus which was designed and thought out and priced for its class, and that sold over 50,000 units at the time.

check out this link:

nothing against the car, i like them alot (and i like where saturn is going as a premium marque) but it's hard to be premium in the compact segment

when I went to Europe in 2007 my renta car was an opel astra 1.7l Diesel

I really hope they bring that motor here. If they ever do ill be the first guy to pick up an saturn astra and rebagde it opel

it was a really great car awesome on fuel and had some balls in the diesel version

The two-door hatch is the best looking entry level car right now IMO

Astra is weird in that a lot of people like the car yet sales are horrible.

I think the price is the inhibiting factor. That and the relatively low horsepower ratings in comparison to its direct competators.
That's the reason I wouldn't get one. Until they wake up and see the demand for a Redline variant!

meh, I'm sure ebay UK would have lots of performance goodies for these cars, as its been available in Europe for a while. If not there will be a fair share of aftermarket stuff locally in due time. If you can buy an SC kit for a Cavalier/Sunfire, I'm sure they'll be some nice mods available for these in hardly anytime.
For a year round car, I was really eyeing an Astra XR, but I put more cash went with the Z4. :dunno: Kind of sucks though, I need to have two vehicles now, one for winter and the Z4.

Maybe that Astra would have been a better choice to avoid all this BS. :thumbsdow

I dont think they have Astra performance parts. Yet. I know the owner though, so I'll ask him next time I talk to him.

I really wish Saturn would just bring out the turbo and diesel variants already!
