Here's the story.

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/north/story/2008/11/21/nwt-car.html?ref=rss

The guy who won the Koenigsegg CCX lives in a remote town in NWT that doesn't even have any paved roads! Pretty obvious choice to take the cash..
Glad to see the money went to someone who deserves it however, I hope this helps him with his cancer treatment and the associated costs.

As great of a car as it is, I would have easily taken the cash as well. I probably couldn't afford a damn muffler for the car.

yea I would take the cash as well

is the list of winners up?

Good for him (bastard... should have been mine)

Really though, I bet if he kept the car, he could have sold it for a lot more than a million.

Are you kidding? He wouldn't get more than 500k for it.. you can buy them at the official dealership in Vegas and they are hardly flying off the shelves. Not sure if you noticed the global economic meltdown or not, but it isn't helping swedish supercar sales.

oh man i bought 3 tickets to the lottery, hoping to win the ccx. at least a cancer patient who could use some happiness won. I wonder where the car is going to end up though?

11-21-2008, 11:23 AM
Yeah, cause a cancer fighting man from a nowhere town in NWT should find it in his best interest to try and sell a million+ car. Was that a serious post?

Congrats, Louie!

I don't think they actually intended for the winner to take the car. It's just too impractical- even a Ferrari or a Lambo is somewhat "practical" given they cost significantly less than $1,000,000. This car was more for the symbolic value. After all, they even secured a buyer from the US beforehand ;)

A part of me would have probably kept the car..

Man another out of town winner. Ok I have no problems with this guy winning the car/1M, but seriously... Has anyone else noticed that anytime there are these big lotteries, it seems 90% of the TOP winners are usually from some dinky town, and almost never from Calgary or Edmonton??? And if you go down the list of winners of the biggest prizes, also the same thing. I am going to have to assume most of the tickets are sold locally with a minority being sold to smaller markets. But something either isn't right or just truly weird.

I would have take the cash as well. No place to run that car in Calgary unless you want to be like certain white Lambo owner.

Taking a mil and pay $300K for a Lambo or AM still leave you $700K to maintain it and live a baller life.

Shouldn't matter how many tickets you hold. The highest concentration of winners should be where the highest concentration of ticket sales are.

Release the rest of the winners damnit! Although I'm assuming all the top prize winners have already been contacted. :(

In the rules I thought you said you had to be a resident of alberta otherwise I would have bought tickets. Either way I'm glad they didn't say no to him. He deserves it more then most.

Thats exactly what happened. Guy bought the ticket from Edmonton which is where the highest concentration of ticket sales were.

So is the CCX available for sale?

(Through Cash and Cars? Or who has it)?

i thought that it went back to the factory in Sweden?

black13

Didn't they get special clearance from customs canada for the CCX? Meaning it would have been the only CCX in Canada until it was 15 years older?

In that case I'd probably take the car and selling it down the line wouldn't be hard for more than a million since its the only one in canada.

Apparently anyone who won a prize worth more than $10,000 was to be notified with a phone call, every other winner will be notified with a letter in the mail.

If you havenet heard anything yet, chances probably arn't good:(
