They are mainstream and they are ok. Nothing special.

For the money, you could do better. I think RF really shined during 1998-1999, when they were not as well known. Their amps from that period were great. It's hard to find a good one from that time period though.

I have there top of the line 8" with a fairly good amp. It sounds amazing, it takes up very little space. I sounds like a 10 but with better cleaner sound quality! I have a buddy that can get you a super good deal on a system if you would like. PM me if your interested!

I love my RF amps and speakers. I don't really like their subs tho.

I love RF. The old stuff was a lot better though

I don't know much about their amps, but have heard that the older ones were awesome.

But I personally hate their subs. Maybe their high end ones sound good, but I have heard some of the other ones, and man do they sound bad.

Most of the older RF amps were considered among the best. Their newer high end HX2 subs sound like crap, but they get very loud.

Tell us how much you have to spend. We can probably guide you towards something better.

Again, a misconception. They USED to do this, which is why the older ones were such a great buy. Now, you will be lucky to get the claimed output.

And for less than $300, one of the members on here has a Phoenix gold amp that is very very good. And it's got about 370watts of clean power.

They don't underrate their amps no more? Shitty deal. I have a pair of older amps just sitting around. I wonder if I should sell them now that I don't need them.... Hmm...

Good luck man! I've been trying for a year and I still have my sub and amp. :(

Yeah it is, you said you won't get claimed output, I said you will. I love RF products, they do indeed give claimed output :)

No it isn't. Claimed output is not underrating. See www.dictionary.com for a defination of the two terms.

Yes, RF amps do give claimed output, but so does Kenwood and Pioneer. Even Mobile Authority gives claimed output if you want to think of it that way.

Point is, see the older RF amps in the marketplace. Those are the good old days, when RF used to claim 250 watts and underrate it so that it would come up as 300+ in the birthsheet. The newer ones give exactly what you pay for - claimed output, and nothing more.

Yep, this is what I meant. They don't give more, but they don't give less either. They're not bad amps, especially for the price they cost.

The best amps were made in 1998 and 1999. Check D'z Nutz thread in the marketplace for some of the amps of the good old days - amps that were sold under the premise of 200 watts, but really were good for at least 300+.

what year did they stop underrating the power? I bought a Punch 800 a few years ago, it was tested and put out 965W, one of the reasons why I bought it
