So I took a ride in my neighbour's car and went to the local Safeway, we were dropping off those Christmas shoe box shit thingys for charity...

Then he asked if I needed to buy anything from Safeway, I did't wanna leave the store empty handed. So I saw this sign "Buy one get one FREE" for Aquafina 24 pak bottled water.

So we each grabbed a case and processed to checkout, whatever right?... Came out to $13.75 for everything, whatever; cuz it was for 2 paks of 24's = 48

Then we headed to Home Depot and Nestle 24 pak was only $3.99 or $4.99, so I was like WTF, the Safeway B1G1F isn't that great of a deal after all.

Pulled out the receipt at the H.D. parking lot and found out there was a $4.80 bottle deposit  so $0.10/bottle or 60% of product value :whipped: ($4.80/$7.99)

That's stupid how they don't just include deposit as a final price, what false advertising.

Yea I've never seen anywhere include the deposit on the sticker price.

You do know that Calgary Tap water has less impurities then bottled water does right?

If you don't like the chlorine taste you can just run it through a Brita filter.

What's funny is isn't the "deposit" fee supposed to cover the recycling fees and such?

Notice the "LEVY/RECYCLING" fee right below the Deposit?

Way to double charge us evil corporate entities.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

EDIT: I'll let you in on a little secret, go to those shiny things attached to the top of sinks, bring a bottle. When no one is looking, engage the handle (i.e. lift, pull, twist...etc) to receive all the water you want!!!

Well normally when I'm home I drink tap water to a Brita and then use a hot water boiler/dispener.

But it's just you know, sometimes when you bring girls over the house or you meet 'em on the street in the car and they ask if you got water... just so they'll think you're a balla drinking bottled water. And it doesn't usually work if you fill tap water into a used bottle... "WTF, why's the seal broken on this, you put somethin' in my drink dude?"

You're right, nothing says "I'm a balla" like a bottle of water.:bigpimp:

I have chilled water and ice straight from my fridge. I tell the girls it's hooked up to a water purifier in the basement. I pour ice and water into a nice looking glass, that's 1000x more baller than bottled water. Even tho it's tap water. And a $2 superstore glass.

LOL, $13.75 for 24 bottles sounds pretty damn cheap to me. Is this not including any drinks or something?

Are you guys all students on a budget or something?

My city water tab is that much for myself.

I love that Perrier stuff  this chick server at an airport restaurant up sold it to me once... I was getting the bill for the food/coke and then she was like: "would you like some bottled water for your flight?"... I'm like sure... then she upsold me: "well maybe a Perrier then?"

The only reason I buy bottled water at the office is for the bottle, so I can refill it with the tap. Fucking cleaning ppl keep stealing them at nights!

Plastic bottles can give off toxins after prolonged use.

I suggest you buy a glass bottle and refill that.

Ya, that's what everyone at the office tells me. Honestly, my plastic bottles don't last more than a week here, those cleaning people are sneaky and fast!

I have a pint glass on my desk.

The fridge at work has an ice maker which makes tap water even better.

I drink tap water even though the fridge is filled with free bottled water, juice and pop.
