Why didn't you get a 2005?

There were so many updates and it doesn't look like the 2006!

me personally I wouldn't buy the 04, would only get 05+

If you want to know why just look it up on nasioc or iwsti

Everyone thinks your WRX STI is the worst one out there and require you to buy another vehicle, preferred a neon or saturn ION.

Your aftermarket wheel selection is not going to be as good if you got an 04 - not many 5x100 wheels with the offset required to clear the brembos.

If you have a passenger w/ coffee/a slurpee, your cd player will get wrecked.

You will envy the 05 owners ... and you will take offense if someone says 'Subarus are ugly' even though it's true. :)

congrats on the car - your first mods will be the AP2 and a downpipe. Got pics of the car?

05 and greater only. :thumbsup:

Blue and gold 1st choice

White and gold second

never ever get a black one.

Oh yeah, and be prepared to get a lot of attention from dudes. The STi is DEFINATELY NOT a chick magnet. Guys will give you thumbs up all day long, girls won't even notice you. My wife loves driving the car 'cause it gets lots of attention from men haha

Everyone will want to race you, and police will be all over you. All I can say is make sure you roll legit and don't give them any reason to pull you over, because they will.

You might want to think about de-winging it as well. Ever since I took the wing off my car, Police heat has been cut in half, and the street race crew don't notice me anymore.

One of the "cup holders" is a pull out one right below the vent, above the cd player on the dash. It's fairly flimsy, and with the ride of the car you will be spilling coffee/slurpee's (etc) all over the cd player.

look right above the cd player/below the vent. There are 2 slots, the one on the right is the cup holder. It pulls out and your drink kind of 'hangs' in it. When I got mine, the previous owner had spilled something like pop or a slurpee in it and it would always get stuck. I had to pull it out and clean it - only to do the same myself later on :rofl: . In 05+ they put 2 cup holders down by the e-brake and got rid of that stupid one on the dash.

Also, the Canadian 04's only have a heated driver seat - not passenger.

Wow! I own a WRX and I was unaware there was a cupholder there. Someone must of spilled something on it before and it does not come out of my dash.

The more you know.

That is one of the biggest reasons I waited for an '05. I didn't want to deal with "how cold" my passenger was.

Wut..? You mean 5x114.3 for 05? Or 5x100 for 04? :dunno:

er yeah, I meant 04 is 5x100 and 05 is 5 x 114.3. I'll fix that :)

Stay away from the 09's until Subaru fixes the engine bearing failures that are still plaguing WRX's and all 2.5L turbo Subarus (excluding STI). Failures of 09's are in double digit numbers now;

Even a video of the issue on a 2009;

I just bought a 2005 STI , blue with gold wheels. I would stay away from 2004 it has the old interior.

not to mention the suspension (which is one of the reasons you buy thease cars) between the 04 and 05 is different and updated too :thumbsup:

Yeah, the '04 has a rear strut clunk problem.

At least the 08+ models have multilink rear suspension which shouldn't have this issue. Maybe it's a rear strut thing as I get a slight clunk from from my MR2.

This is one huge difference from the old car with it's massive hood scoop and rear wing to the new HB version. My '08 STI doesn't attract attention from anyone else on the road, except maybe the odd Subie driver.

Stealth rally car :D

To the OP --- Don't worry about the rear strut clunk, some nice KWs will take care of the problem ;)

I think you need to pm me with a price on these KW's :D

And thanks for all beating on my new car guys =(

If you have the chance get an 05 over 04, but frankly, I have an 04, and I love it. Screw all of y'all!
