I am seraching for sites to DL high quality music files. I get my songs from iTunes but they have a limited selection.

I would prefer to pay for songs if possible but I don't want to be limited to purchasing complete albums.

Any suggestions?

Rob

It all depends on what genre of songs u want

I get my DJ songs from beatport.com and djdownloads.com but I'm sure that doesn't really help u out

Good point. Way back in the early days I was all over Napster but these days I would prefer to do it legally.

Music wise, let's say mostly Top 40, classic rock, country and rap/hip hop. I am not really into any of the specialty stuff.

Thanks,
Rob

You said you'd prefer to pay for songs...but if not, then soulseek offers the best shit hands down. All rare songs, lots of high quality files.

Soulseek? Haha.

Try to get your hands on a what.cd or a waffles.fm invite.

I would be surprised if a site exists that sells music that you cant find on itunes, unless its really small indie specialty stuff. usually if an online retailer has a deal with a record label, itunes already has one with them too.

but there is mainstream/top 40 stuff that isnt on itunes?

That sucks :thumbsdow iTunes has lots of stuff but even some of the big names (AC/DC and many that I can't think of right now) are NOT on there.

Is Soulseek good?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Soulseek is like Napster/Limewire/etc is it not?

I have used bearshare for years, it is a great program. Try to get bearshare lite V5.2.5

File hippo usually has pretty good versions.

Tonight I went to Soulseek, paid my $29.95 USD and then got directed to http://members-site.net where I was told I had to DL one of the various programs they had listed. I chose Limewire. Now I am connected and Limewire can't find any songs, besides, isn't Limewire totally different than Soulseek? What did I pay $29.95 for? Is this a scam? I hate sh*t like this!

Unfortunately you got all kinds of scammed, both those programs are free. :(
Soulseek
http://www.slsknet.org/

Limewire
http://www.limewire.com/

Limewire is also ( or at least used to be?) full of spyware, so I'd also recommend uninstalling it asap.

Damn that pisses me off. Just another good reminder of why I never shop on the internet unless there is no other choice :guns:

Thanks for the legit links and I will ditch Limewire ASAP.

I have always had good luck with limewire. Yeah it is free but that 29 bucks you paid for makes your music download alot faster. You must of paid for the "limewire pro "

Search for one of the other 25 threads about this for the method I use.

I just use limewire and it works fine for me. But you mentioned high quality, I can't quite tell the difference.
