just had some Chianti's take out tonight, from the MacLeod location. I've been going to Chianti's since about 2003 on cheap pasta nights, which are Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. It used to be $6 for all their pasta dishes, but now it's $7. It's still a GREAT deal, especially considreing the quality of the food.

I used to go to the location on 17th Ave, but since moving to the south, been going to the MacLeod locatoin. I've also been to the location far in the NW (where ever it is, crowfoot or something).

The food is always great (especially for the price), but i've noticed that the preparation teks (i.e. chopping veggies, sausages, bread types, etc) vary by location and time. this is good evidence that the food is fresh, and cooked on site instead of being cut out of a frozen bag , heated, and assembeled like you would expect from somewhere like the olive garden. when you dine in, they give you free warm bread with lots of packs of whipped butter (mmm... butter, i use like 4 or 5 packs!!!), but the nice thing is they also give you bread with take out. tonight i made a spaghetti sandwich with my bread, before digging in to the main plate LOLOLOL

i usually get the linguini kitsalano. although i've had one of the gniochiis and also the spaghetti and meatballs... always go back to the kitsalano cause i love those dope italian sausages, green peppers, and chunky shrooms in marinara. usually it's on linguini, but tonight it was accidentally served on spaghetiini, which was even better so i think i'll ask for it prepared that way next time.

anyhow, just got done with a pretty good take out dinner that cost us under $20 for two dope meals.... just wanted to let yall know, and see if anyone has any comments.

peace out honx

I use to go to Chianti's a lot back 7-8 years ago. 1-2X/week actually. Yeah the pastas are wicked deals. I remember you can add $2.75 and you can sport size your pastas for a bigger appetite.

I'm not much into pasta anymore so I haven't hit it up in years but I think I need to visit one because of this thread haha

i find i have to sports size mine there to get enough to eat, i also find lately they have been forgetting to bring the bread and i have to ask. but i do love the pasta... tortellini alla panna every time

never realized they had take out though... i might have to give that a try considering i live minute from the south location

Just curious, do they still have the all Asian/Chinese staff in the kitchen?

When I was going lots, I noticed that was the case with the 17th AVE SW, Crowfoot and Willow Park location. Thought it was pretty cool.

Amore Dolce
Supremo

Ya, while i was going to SAIT Aerospace, i think we were there literally Monday or Tuesday once a week for a whole semester,

i managed to get 3/4 through the list.. then we got really sick of going there honestly, great deal for pasta, just pasta every week was a little too much.

Chianti (and Fiore) is definitely a "get what you pay for" restaurant.

tip your waitresses at BP's! my girlfriend works there and when she does not get a time (you would be surprised how many cheap asses are out there) she ends up losing money for serving you! she has to pay out 4% of the bill to the kitchen regardless and they do not build in gratuity on larger tables

for all you guys hating on the cheapness and quality, i just want to say

1) you're right, it is cheap, that's the point! :poosie:

2) but for $7, you'd be hard pressed to find a restaurant anywhere that had better food for this price (hell, even mcdonald's is more expensive!)

3) despite it's price, it's way better than the pasta dishes at earls, joey tomatoes, BPs, olive garden, brewster's, and shit like dat. at least it's fresh and the ingredients are high quality. it's not gonna win awards for using in-season or local ingredients, or for being uber creative, and the servers don't lick your asshole, but holy hell it's $7!

Of course one wouldn't hit up Chianti's when looking for a fine dining experience as some of you seem to be implying, however for quick and cheap take out on a Monday (or sunday or tuesday) night, the price and quality just can't be beat, IMHO

might have to try the "sport size" option, I never even realized they offered that! Is it printed on the menu somewhere? am i blind/dumb? or maybe I missed it back in the day (i never look at the menu anymore)

Believe it or not they have some really nice dishes if you ask for them or go on certain dates. Chiantis is one of the few places in this city that still has decent service (the manager at the 32nd ave location is awesome).

I was just telling them about the prices for the pastas so I hope you weren't implying that I don't tip servers. I work in the industry so I know how much servers tip out. ;)

not implying that at all... she was just telling me about this the other day... and to the comment that she isn't a good server (not you, the other guy) i dunno if she is or not... but the fact is that these cheap people still exist regardless of how good the service is they just dont tip, normally it is the ones that play the "im a foreigner so i dont know any better" card... yeah sure you dont... when we visit your countries we learn about the customs and norms of your country so i doubt you dont know anything about ours... oh and lately it has been young girls.. she had a table dine and dash too... young people as well.
