Does anyone know a source to find some historical drilling rig day rates? I am working on an inflationary paper, and wanted to add a few tables of increasing production costs.

Either some day rates in BC or the US would be helpfull, say from 2000 until 2007 (or now if possible).

There must be a website that tracks this kind of thing...

Someone at CAODC could probably provide this for you.
Here are the current hourly wages for Rig workers
http://www.caodc.ca/wages.htm

You should also see if you can find Casing prices, as those have gone up massivley.

^ Wow, those wages are way less than what people make them out to be. All the rig workers brag about making huge money, but it doesn't seem like that from that wage schedule.

When you are working 84hr/week, they add up quickly...

40x$26.00 = 1040 + 44x$39.00=1560

$2600/week plus $50/day living allowance for a camp job

2600x2 + 50X14 = $5900/ 2 weeks

**This is based on lease hand wages**

If you move up to Motorhand it becomes $6900/ 2 weeks
and $7900 for Derrick

Yeah, it's not that much per hour, but most drilling rigs in Canada run 2x12 hours shifts each day, seven days a week.
and over the 20 weeks of winter, most rig hands will work 16 of them.

It adds up pretty fast.

I think he's talking about rig time costs, not wages of the labour. I'm thinking 50-70g a day, but it's probably gone down alot since last time i looked.

I'll ask some of our drillers and see if they have the info.

Ya Crymson, I was talking about Rig day costs. Its basically a summary of all the input expenses of a rig for one day.

For the US there are a few websites that tell you these, but I can't find any for Canada.

The only source I'm aware of that's "public" data is through First Energy Capital (www.firstenergy.com). But, you need an account to access the research portion. They publish reports that have Precision Drilling's day rates.

Thanks for the idea. What about is there a place that keeps a record of the wages for previous years, like this list but going back a few years?
