Who makes a good driving shoe? I know Puma makes some, does anybody else have any other good shoes that you could pick up at the mall? I am going to ask for a pair for Christmas but i need to find something i like first.

goodyear/michelin

I LOVE my sparco shoes though. call me a ricer, but they are thin, have support at the ankle and really let me respond to the pedals.

I have the Ferrari Pumas right now, but honestly they aren't amazing for driving.

These look sick:

But if you are just going to the mall, then you will probably have to get Pumas.

the addidas porche and puma ferrari ones aren't really driving/racing shoes....

the puma racecats usually cost around 250+ w/o a sale. The alpinestars start around the same. The sparcos cost more naturally. I haven't yet seen a mall store in calgary that stocks these kinds of shoes. Usually you'd have to go to a specialty shop.

I got lucky and bought my racecats for 50% off in Tokyo.

haha i don't think driving shoes are going to give me the edge in driving. Usually i have to wear an uncomfortable show, like a dress shoe or boots or shoes that are wider that sometimes get in the way. So i want shoes that will be comfortable and thin that will make driving more enjoyable.

usually driving shoes have a thinner sole, which helps plenty of pedal feel. they are also lighter in construction as well as fire retardant.

i own a pair of alpinestars and i love them. but they shouldnt be used out of a car. the thin sole kills ur feet over rocks.
the puma's arent that great unless you go for their cart shoes.

The Porsche Design ones, not the ones that you can find at Footlocker that are basically Adidas shoes with a Porsche logo on them, but the ones that you can pick up at the Porsche Design stores. Expensive though, I think they're $350 USD. I picked up a pair of Porsche Design golf shoes for half off on New Years eve in Beverly Hills and they are the same price.

Driving shoes?? :dunno: Is this another one of those 'does having a faster car make me a better driver' things? On a day like today, i'd say save the money on the driving shoes and get some winter tires.

That said, I just wear my Duffs.

yeah those $350 u spend on those porsche shoes could be spent on new winter tires

I'm rocking the porsche designed addidas right now. I guess they are not actual "driving shoes" but they are comfortable and look nice.

I'm all for No Shoes. You can feel the pedals better and have better control.

Long distance drives too... no shoes are the shit!

i don't think it matters what shoes you're wearing as long as you're not wearing stilettos. if you are i honestly hope you end up on CWD too.

$175 on sale w00t. Plus they're a bit more unique and some of the best built shoes I've ever owned. Leather is outstanding, owned them for a year now and they're almost no visible sign of wear, and I wear them all the time, even in snow. And you can use them for semi-formal purposes too.

Hell yeah!

I love my Porsche Design shoes! I find them very useful driving both my Jag and Volvo. The foot space is very limited in both those cars and every other pair of shoes I wear end up double pedaling the brake.

^^^ Those are about the same shape as these Puma and addidas shoes. That's if you have the Lacostes i am thinking of...

Slip ons. Hands down.

Puma, Lacoste, Vans, Walmart brand...doesn't matter. Nothing better than some broken in slip ons.

I have the Porsche Addidas shoes. Didn't cost more than $120 bones, which is pretty much standard for any nice higher end shoe.

Love the feel and the look. They are great for driving with.

There's really nothing special about a "driving" shoe. They are just light, fairly streamlined, allow for good range of motion, and fit your feet well. (Read: aren't as wide as boats.)
I dunno about you guys, but if you've ever worn wide shoes, gone for the brake pedal but accidentally clipped the gas pedal simultaneously, you'll understand why "driving shoes" are a good idea.

They remind me of wetshoes.

All the people in this thread that are laughing about the driving shoes obviously have never driven with them.
It makes the drive more enjoyable. Partially psycological, I NEVER drive more then 5/10's without them.
Pedal feel, I find it easier to heeltoe rev match and clutch quickly/engagement point.
Besides all that its a safety issue (ha!)... my sparco's are fire retardent. Of course this doesnt matter if you've never been to racecity. Which I suspect is the exact situation for 70% of beyond.

Goes back to people who are car "enthusiasts" but dont change their own oil, let work on their cars.
