3g sucking battery life is pretty much bad rumours than have been disproven. there may have been issues with some of the early firmware or batches of the first bolds .

My bold had shitty battery life before but now after some firmware upgrades I can't complain. That being said my Bold is on the cradle every night so it doesn't really bother me. Before it was a struggle to make it through a day without recharging haha.
