And 4 German ones. This must be the top 10 most unreliable engines list :poosie:

Good for Hyundai getting in there!

Can't believe Honda' s 3.5L SOHC got in but VQ is left out.

And what's so special about the Escape Hybrid drivetrain compare to Altima or Camry's?

lmao

So if this was all japanese engines it would be a good list?

I actually expect to see a lot more posts like this.

Sorry to burst some peoples bubble, but just because the japanese are really good and making reliable and fuel efficient engines, it doesn't make them the best.

And for the record, engines are not a reliability issue for German cars. Many other things, but typically not the engines.

Aw looks like my 4.6L 3V finally fell off the list in favor of a tree hugging hybrid. It's been one of the top 10 from 2005-08. :(

Looks like a little bit of everything from all manufacturers though.

That was due to Audi/VW recomending oil change intervals that were too long. Had nothing to do with the engine itself wich was pretty reliable outside of coilpacks.

The 3.7 VQ in is supposedly very rough at high RPM as it seems that the design is maxed out to the point where adding displacement is taking away from refinement. Maybe that had a role in the engine being dropped.

But the 3.7VQ isn't Nissan's mainstay engine - that's the 370z...the 3.5VQ is still in everything else.

I didn't feel the need to list everything it was in...my point was that the 3.5 is still in the rest of them.

unfortunately yes. They also make the Altima too.

I would never get an Maxima over a IS. Even if it's a different class.

edit: A instead of U. LOL.

I was being sarcastic as ever since they put the same engine in the Altima nobody buys Maximas any more. The Maxima used to be Nissan's flagship car but ever since the G-series got popular they seemed to have put all the attention to the Infinity sedans and the Maxima has been pushed to the side as the Altima is essentially the same car with a better price tag so why bother even making it anymore?

They shrunk the Altima a bit for this gen while keeping Maxima with longer wheelbase.

Maxima is now going against Avalon instead of Accord/Camry.
