WTB: Cable Modem

I am looking to buy a cable modem. Used or new is fine as long as it is not too old. I prefer Motorola Surfboard.

i have one of these, they are the number 1 cable modem. i paid 200 dollars for it back in 1997

a nice thing about it, if you switch devices (mac address) you do not have to reboot it like the new ones do.

You want an ancient CyberSURFR? Why? Do you miss the unstable latency, spiking up to 40ms, or the "uncapped" speeds reaching a maddening 8mbit?

Just get a SB5100. They give them away for free with an internet package of 1mo free and $10/off for 6mo. Otherwise it's $60 but you can sweettalk them into $30 if you've been renting for a while.

I have one of the new blue stand up ones. SB5102 to be exact. Pretty much new as I got a second one from a friend.

I've got the black motorola one, the one that was after the CyberSURFR. You can have it for free - it's been sitting in a box for 6 years.

what are you talking about? we have 3 megabit upload on our cybersurf at our work, shaw does not offer this to any company unless they do what we do...

unstable latency, we been using them for years, at our work, we have both of them in addtion to fibre optics, theres a team of people who watch the latency with old modems and the new ones, we ping our servers from downtown to other communties and its always within 12-20ms ,
