So I'm having a "discussion", or in other words my vote doesn't count.. But would you rather have a nice copper set of cookware, or colours from lecreuset

I just think it's dumb to get a coloured set, and have it not match anything in a few yrs, where as copper lasts forever, and I think, Looks ballin'..

I heart my copper cookware...I don't own a lot of it, but love using it over any other pieces I have...

I would prefer the copper, but don't add any lemon juice or anything citric into it

Copper is very reactive with acids. Many copper cookware sets have the copper sandwiched between another less reactive metal to prevent this, while still providing the even heating that copper provides.

I thought it stains or screws up the coating but I guess it was on stainless steel not copper, my bad

Lecreuset is known for their cast iron coated in enamel - I prefer cast iron to copper.

This stuff will outlast you and your great grand kids will probably be fighting over who gets it.

If I could have any kind of cookware, I would go with the All-Clad stuff for the majority of it. It's stainless steel with layers of aluminum, copper, aluminum, and more stainless steel.

Easy to care for because of the stainless steel (no polishing needed, don't have to worry about what kind of food I'm cooking) and it heats quickly and evenly because of the copper and aluminum.

Edit: Just realized they had different lines. The copper-core line is the one I'm thinking of. http://www.all-clad.ca/collections/copper-core/

This is what we have at the house. Very nice pots and pans! Evenly hot and built to last.

As for the color, I saw these crazy Le Creuset orange set! Wanted to do an impulse buy for sure!

IMO, I like the color if it stands out from your kitchen (i.e. if you have a modern kitchen with stainless steel everything.)

If you just have a normal kitchen, copper or stainless steel is better.

What? people don't need to agree with me just because I'm super wicked. :dunno:

There was a show on the queen a couple weeks back, and the copper stuff they use has been in the kitchen for like 200 yrs, used near every day.

That colored cast iron stuff you posted is a classic. It WILL last you forever and can go on the stove top or in the oven as well. And I do not believe you have the acid issues like copper. Only bad this its heavy. Who cares if your pots don't match as long as they cook like a hot damn!

I thought with copper there was a risk of it getting hot enough to melt? And this it couldn't go in the oven at super hot temperatures? Maybe I am making that up but swore I heard it somewhere.

Edited to add-that cast iron stuff is what your parents hand down to you when they get old, its still expensive to buy second hand.

I'd definitely take the copper. That colored stuff looks pretty tacky.

I'd take cast aluminum over the copper though. I think it looks better.
