hey,
i'm about to buy a late-80s vw vanagon westfalia and am wondering what type of coverage i should get, and what companies are cheapest. I will likely be storing the van in winters, so won't need year-round coverage - and does that make a difference. my girlfriend is a graduate of the U of C, and i'm an employee there, and I've heard that TD Moenx or whatever offers a discount, but i'm not sure how those rates compare to other companies.
Also, as a temporary resident in Alberta, I don't actually have an alberta driver's license. do I need to get that in order to get registration and insurance? If so, we could insure the car in my girlfriend's name... if the car is registered in my name, can we insure it under her name? otherwise, we will just register and insure in her name, but how will that impact my ability to drive the van? (i have out of province insurance)
